Why do some of my names in the shared file show merged into another & no longer active
Two of my names Giorgio Bernardi (1803) LKTQ-GGF and Valentino Bernardi (1840) LKTQ-P4V have the annotation "merged with another person, this record is no longer active". These two names have been like this for several months and I can't get the annotation removed even though the record is still actually active. what should i do?

Hello @Jim Grisenti,
We looked at the records for Giorgio Bernardi (1803) LKTQ-GGF and Valentino Bernardi (1840) LKTQ-P4V and did not see the banner that you see regarding being merged with another person.
Here are a couple of things you can try:
- Try using another browser to see if it is there also. Firefox and Chrome work well for me.
- Clear cookies and browsing history.
- Make sure the browser you are using is up to date.
If you clear all cookies, it can affect your access to other websites. Try these steps first:
- Make sure you use a supported Internet browser.
- Delete just the cookies that FamilySearch uses.
- Go to https://FamilySearch.org/cookies.
- When the message Reset your cookies? appears, click Yes.
- If the problems still occur, clear all of your temporary files and cookies. Then restart your computer. Please search the web for instructions for your specific browser.
- If you still have problems, delete your autocomplete history. Search the web for instructions for your specific browser.
Best wishes!

I looked at https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LKTQ-GGF too, and don't see any sign of a merge or a restored merge.

Hi Jim,
You may have seen the message on the record of Giorgio Bernardi, LKTQ-KLX, because he was merged into the record of Giorgio Bernardi, LKTQ-GGF, but that was back on 15 October 2015. When you click the name in the Latest Changes box on the latter Bernardi's details page, and click the name of the other individual, you view the message. It redirects you to the surviving record, and a chance to restore the deleted record, if it is needed.
Hope this information is helpful.

The merges Sanra mentions were done by Jim Grisenti, and done years ago, so I discounted them.

Are you seeing this notice in your Temple list? I think it has something to do with the other prerequisite ordinances being reserved by FamilySearch. And I think it is a BUG that needs to be fixed. I ran into it this week with one of my reservations - and I cannot remove the notification:
James Frederick Holcomb 15 July 1881 – April 1974 • LBZ3-PV6
The last merge on this person was 2018. Yet this notification just showed up within the past few weeks.
I noticed that the two PIDs you shared also have FamilySearch showing as holding the reservations for the prerequisite ordinances.
Moderators - will someone please escalate to an engineer to look into this. Thank you!

Hi Jim,
According to what we see now on Family Tree, both Giorgio Bernardi (1803) LKTQ-GGF and Valentino Bernardi (1840) LKTQ-P4V earlier ordinances are available to the reserved, after being Shared with the Temple. If you reserve them you have 90 days to complete the ordinances.
Wishing you success in reserving and completing the B, C, I, and E ordinances for Giorgio Bernardi and Valentino Bernardi.
Please let us know if we are in error.
Good luck.

In my shared temple file the notation for Giorgio LKTQ-GGF and Valentino LKTQ-P4V. is "This person has been merged with another person. This reservation is no longer active." which is incorrect. it is an active file. I previously tried to print the baptism & confirmation for both but could not. In the date column is a word "UNRESERVE" in the place of the shared date. So I tried that for Valentino thinking that after I unreserved him then I could re-reserve. But no. He did drop out of my shared file but in his person file it shows reserved, but does not say by whom. I can print for Valentino from that screen but cannot track him. So I want to have him back in my shared file but I can't. As it presently exists I could print an ordinance for Valentino since I unreserved him but I can print nothing for Giorgio unless I unreserve him too.
I have something on the order of 40 Male initiatory in my shared file and 10 or so female. I have something over 120 male endowments left in my shared file and about 40 female endowments left - since 2015. I am working at them slowly but it will take me 15 years and by then I will be very old if not deceased. I have Granddaughters that are actively helping but my Grandsons are too busy. 2014 was about the year when the 'shared with temple' file became a black hole where once the name went in nothing came out. Prior to that date shared file processed over100 of my names, which encouraged me to work harder and I did. Now occasionally the Temple will do a few names, particularly initiatory and very infrequently an endowment.
Several of my names have been claimed by someone else, of which some were shared to temple file in their own name. And of those who intend to do the ordinances, it turns out they are not any more successful than I am. Some have been printed but not yet done. I have another 60 to 70 names that I could reserve, but what is the point when Temple cannot process them. With the advances in research capability and the brethren encouraging people to do their own names the temple file is virtually only a place to keep a record of who is waiting for what. But it is a very accurate and beneficial record keeper, thus I can easily process another relative, upon opportunity. So I would like to get Giorgio and Valentino back in the active Shared with Temple file.
Thanks Jim Grisenti
