How do I start a family tree for deceased person not related to me? There is no living relative and I can't find any of his ancestors on familysearch.

@Marcella Martineau Roe , it will be added to the Family Tree as unrelated to you. Your contact name will shown as to who added the person. Each us are part of the whole Family Tree and do not have individual trees in FamilySearch.

The reference to your list of Recents is only to guide you where you can create/add an unrelated person.

@Marcella Martineau Roe Thank you for asking how to add an unrelated deceased person to Family Tree. If you will sign into FamilySearch, go to your personal detail page, find at the top of the page above your name, Recents and click on it. This drop down list will provide a list of 50 names you have recently worked with. At the bottom of the list is a + Add Unconnected Person. Click on it and enter the personal data for the individual you want to add.

You may refer to the link provided below for further information:

That person is not on my list of recents - even though I've looked at records for him.

If I type in his name, does that add him/her to my tree or start a new tree? Is there a way to start a new tree when I find a source and it says to review and attach?

    Very confusing.

Thank you - This has not been taught in any family history classes - good to know.
