Info on William Kelly and Elizabeth Kelly (Reid)
Hello
my 2x great grandparents moved from I believe Tyrone or Armagh Ireland in 1833 to Ontario Canada. Both born there in 1806 and had a son Robert born in Ireland all other kids born in Canada. I have not been able to find any data from Ireland. Anyone have suggestions?
William and Elizabeth Kelly were Protestant Irish settlers, probably from Tyrone or Armagh counties in Northern Ireland. They settled in Ontario, Sheffield twnshp. county of Lennox and Addington, aproximately 1830-1835. Their children are listed in the Canada Census years 1851, 1861 and 1871. This is what the 1851 census says. The birthdates for the children change with each census. William Kelly, age 45,born Ireland, Occ.farmer, religion E.P.C.E., Wife Elizabeth
My Grandfather James was in The Royal Black Institution which I thought could help but I tried getting data from Manitoba, Ontario and BC to no avail. I found out recently my GGrandfather became an Orangeman late in his life. I tried researching the religion E.P.C.E. but couldn't find much. I was hoping that Williams father would have been at the age of the beginning of the the Orange Order late 1700's and I could access docs through that channel.
Thanks,
Todd

Prior discussion for reference
@todd6274 Can you share the URL of the census that lists the religion as "E.P.C.E." please? I have not seen that, and I have not found the family in 1851. I have an idea, but I'd like to see the census to be sure.
Thanks.

The info I posted about E.P.C.E. religion was from another researcher I will look into the census records she noted.

Here is the link: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MQ7N-L76
I contacted Family Search support specialist in Ireland and she said unless I get the exact town William is from it will be extremely difficult to find parish records and I will need to find immigration records to Ontario Canada for the years 180-1835 when William wife elizabeth Rein and son James immigrated.

Canada did not keep immigration records that early. Even the US records for that early have very little info to try to identify one family from another of the same name. https://library-archives.canada.ca/eng/collection/research-help/genealogy-family-history/immigration/Pages/immigrants-before-1865.aspx
The religion is Church of England, often referred to as Episcopalian, which has been abbreviated.

@todd6274 Here is the link to the Canada group. CANADA RESEARCH. There are some really good researchers in that group that may be able to assist you further in your research. It looks like Aine has given you some good information, but it doesn't hurt to see if the Canada group can help you as well. I have reached out to one of our group leaders who lives in Northern Ireland to see if he can help you as well.
Good Luck in your search.
Kind Regards,
Shannon

https://www.orangeheritage.co.uk/archives If the family were aligned to the Orange order this site may be of some assistance although they mention a wait of 3-6 months for queries.
info@royalblack.org MAY be of some assistance with the Royal Black institution, but they are a very private organisation and very, very proud of their heritage. I have never had to contact either organisation so I don't know what records they may hold or if they will divulge any information .
Shipping lists can helpful but are very hit and miss. There was a really good thread on facebook that I had been following - I haven't seen them post anything in a few weeks but it it resurfaces I'll add to the post. One thing that it did demonstrate was how far people would travel to join the ship. I thought they would have been fairly local but in some cases they had a long journey to get to the port.
There is also the following site https://mellonmigrationcentre.com/ Very useful but its not online - It is in person attendance. But it was useful. The complete IED (Irish Emmigration Database) is available free of charge to visitors at the Centre, at all branch libraries of Libraries NI and at the Search Room of the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI). Not online!
The IED is also accessible on-line at DIPPAM but does not include the Irish Ship Passenger Lists.
The Irish Ship Passenger Lists are available at the I.F.H.F (please note a small charge will be incurred).
There is also this site - http://www.ulsterancestry.com/free/index-armagh.htm#gsc.tab=0 - Ulster ancestry are really good but are often pay to view . You would have to make your mind up if their services are something you would want to pay for. However in the site above there are some really obscure records and are well worth a look. Tyrone will be on the site also. Counties Armagh & Tyrone border each other if you are unaware of the geography.
The religion I would agree is episcopalian. If they were catholic they would not have been in either the Orange Order or Royal Black, but would have been in the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
Hope that helps

I found a possible birth record for my GGGM Elizabeth Kelley (Reid). Date of birth, religion and area of birth matches. Can anyone help tie this together to her husband William, and son James all from Tyrone or Armagh. This record indicates her parents are from Mullyloughran.

Another site that you may find useful - re tying all the families together I would want more evidence - Griffiths valuation, tithe applotment, and so on. It may well be your family or it may be commonality of names. The parish church mentioned in the certificate - I would want to have a browse of that to see what information it holds also - any other marriages of the family etc

I should mention though that those record sets will only mention the head of the family - no other family members will be mentioned but the aim is to establish the family. Another search option is to use the civil registration site & see if you can locate any other family members in the area. A bit of searching but it can pay off.
