Thank you! I can see the old records from 1831 and will start searching them. Where would I find my mother's birth certificate? She was born in 1926 in Czernikow of Sezon Seoplas and Priska Jakowlewna. I have looked and looked and not found anyone by either Seoplas or Jakowlewna names...Please point me in the right direction...You are a light unto the Gentiles. Danuta

Now I need to find my grandfather's birth documentation ...Grandfather was Bazylius Polak born around 1880 I suppose in Szczurowice where do I look for that? I know he was married 05 Dec 1907 to Katzaryna Dodyk. I am hoping to find Bazylius's parents...I think his father was Mojezes...or something like Moses...LOL

Yes, you're right about his dad. And his mom appears to be Anna. (Based on the small note written below his name on the family book record.) Thank you. I was able to locate the page in the micro film. That was very rewarding and now I would like to know where to start looking for Bazyli Polak's father...Mojezes Polak. If Bazyli was born in 1880 perhaps his father was born in around 1860 or 1857. Which birth records would be the best to search. Hope you are safe and well. Before jumping back to find his father's birth record you will want to first locate birth records for Bazyli and his siblings. This would narrow the range for when Bazyli's parents would have married. If you then find their marriage record it may give you additional clues about when or where they were born.

Stanislawa Seoplas, my mother was born in Czernichow Orlowa, which I was told by Brother Maric Koblansky, was part of the time Russian territory. She was born in 1926 and at that time it might have been Czermiejow Russia, I'm not sure of that. There is reference to Czernichow, (Liski) Galizien, Austria, now Czernichow(Krakow) Krakow Poland. This seems very confusing to me. I really need help on this one. Donna

Czernichów (Liszki), Galizien, Austria and Czernichów (Kraków), Kraków, Poland are the same place, they are just using jurisdictions from different time periods.
Do you have a document listing your mother's place of birth?

All that I have is her old passport when I came to Canada with her in 1954 and a Testimonium Ortus Et Baptismi from second hand testimony as the original was not available. It is written in Hamburg 3.6 1950 Nr. 221 and is in Polish, Latin, English and French. From it I read her name, Stanislawa Seoplas, date and place of birth 7.VII. 1926 , Czernichow distr Czernichow prov. Orlowa Ukraine. Parents; Sezon Seoplas and his wife Priska Jakowlewna….Rite of baptism and place..Czernichow and signatures of withesses.
It is signed by Mieczyslaw Golniewicz Parish Priest in the Rom. Catholic Pastorate for Poles in Germany. All her passport says is Czernikow as place of birth. I still think Marek Koblanski is right in saying that the place in 1926 was possibly Czemiejow Russia.
I looked at film 741924 but I think it was in Russian and my keyboard doesn't have a backwards N etc...so Google translate was not useful at all. May need a Russian speaking genealogist to help if her records are all in Russian. Donna

I'm confused by the places you're mentioning. The place you're looking at on microfilm 741924 is for Czernichów (Liszki), Galizien, Austria which was not part of Russia. I don't know which place he meant in Russia.

From what I understand Marek was talking about the village Orlowka in the province of Czernichow...or Orlowka village in the district of Niezyn province of Czernihow located 44 km from the district centre which had in 1886 ...337 houses 2028 residents and probably a Russian Orthodox church. He was going to look at Szczurowice (Radziechow) roman-catholic records 1890-1849 which I think you already did...Orlowka (Niezyn) Orthodox church 1896,
Kulikova Orthodox church 1875-1883 and Czernihow roman-catholic church 1898-1917.

I also found a way to read some of the Russian....I guessed at words that might be in the Russian documents such as birth, marriage and death and then translated via Google translate...to Russian and then went back to the original documents to see if the Russian characters were the same for the words indicated...slow but better than nothing...Donna

Also Marek looked at film #2 082 983 Orlovka Orthodox records year 1896 but didn't see anything worthwhile. said it was hard to read but that he wanted to write to the Civil Office in Orlovka for birth records etc. as he was pretty sure that's where they were...Donna

Marek didn't ever write to the civil office and I don't know if he is still alive. I tried to phone him in Salt Lake but couldn't get through...he did this research quite a while ago. Thank you for the link...I shall use it...Donna

Record of a birth from 1926 is exceedingly unlikely to be found online. Much too recent to be public information.

it's Sister Andrus, but please call me Camille. Yes, Marek is still alive, but I don't have his contact information. Research for such recent records can be challenging because they're often not available to the general public due to privacy restrictions as is the case with your mother's 1926 birth record. I think writing to the office is your best bet for now.

I did have Brother Marek Koblanski, a genealogist from Salt Lake, don't know if he's still alive, recommend writing a letter to the Civil Registration Office in Radziechow to try to obtain the Greek Catholic records for Teofil Polak, b. 1916 Szczurowice lineage and kindred dead. I have as of Feb. 28th 2020 had contact with someone from the Family search centre ( Jana I Jedrzeja Sniadeckich BBYDGOSZCZ BYEGOSKIEGO website <http://www.familysearch .org/wiki/en/Bydgoszcz_Poland_Family_History_Center> and they said there are 4 such centers in Poland. I am wondering how they could be helpful but because I am a non computer whizz I can't even log on to the given site. What could I rightfully ask them to do to help me. I have not worked with them before. They will not have the birth records you're looking for at their center either, but they may have someone who could help you draft a letter to the civil office to ask for your ancestor's birth record.
