A question about a baptism record

I am attaching a picture from Gurzelen-Baptism-1709-Spring-Hans Rudolph
According to this record it says the Father was from Seftigen. After the father's name I think it lists an occupation (which is consistent in his other children's records)- Could you please give me insight into what this is?
Also, After the son's name Hans Rudolph a little to the right it looks like a cross, which would mean he passed away. Thoughts?? I looked at the death records, from 1709-1729 and they are very difficult to read, but I didn't come across his name.

Gurzelen - baptism - 1709 - Spring - father's occupation.
Now for your questions:
Correct - the family lived in Seftigen. According to Familiennamenbuch Spring actually have held citizenship there since before 1800.
The father's occupation was Keßler (today Kessler) = kettle maker.
About the cross (or X?): it is true - some priest would indicate a death at early age with a cross; could even be after many years - when the baptismal date was checked to determine the age at death. What makes me unsure about this explanation is the fact that I didn't see a second one like this in the "surrounding" years. That we have just a single early death within several years would be rather unusual at this time. Just a far fetched thought: could it be that he died later - in another parish and the priest of his baptismal parish was asked about this date???
What else do you know about Hans Rudolph Spring? You didn't find a death entry 1709-1729 (but feel you could have missed it) … what about a marriage entry - or is he mentioned as father in a later baptismal entry?

Thank you so much for your help. That confirms what I felt his occupation was a Kessler. Someone else in another family tree had thought Rossler, but that is not what I saw.
I will look for a marriage record for Hans Rudolph or a baptismal record.
Where did you find Familiennamenbuch Spring? I have lots of Springs in my family line.

Familiennamenbuch (https://hls-dhs-dss.ch/famn/?lg=e) is one of the basic sources for any research in Switzerland: it tells you where families have held citizenship. Unless you already know the place of citizenship Familiennamenbuch will list potential starting points for your research (especially useful with less common surnames).
http://kunden.eye.ch/swissgen/CH-burger-e.html gives a rather short introduction to the rules of Swiss citizenship - there will be more elaborate texts on the internet.
