Thank you Betseylee. I noticed this name several times so I think I will do that! I noticed they haven’t posted since 2015. But I think I have traced the Klouda family tree back to 1647 to a Vaclav Bren and Dorota Krejci. I’ve printed in all out. I’m crossing my fingers but Family Search start connecting after I entered the marriage of Frantisek and Katerina. It would appear the name Frank is a very popular Bohemian name! Each generation had a Frantsek which I’m assuming is Bohemian for Frank. I’m excited, my fingers hurt, arthritis and typing don’t go along well and I can’t get my bifocals to focus anymore so I’m done for the night! Your help has been immeasurable and such a blessing to me. I’m going to sleep with a big smile on my face and joy in my heart. I’m going to learn the language and book a trip to Prague. Goodnight. Good morning David! Thank you so much for responding. I would love for you to translate. I’ve been getting some help but the writing is awful. You are correct. Last night Family Search, Betseylee Browning and I managed to get to the 1600’s. Family Search did a great job once Betseylee was able to figure out names and some dates. I still can’t figure out when they immigrated here, what ship, port, etc. who was on it. The manifest is difficult at best. Also I can’t find where Katarina Bednar came here with her husband, Frantisek Klouda because death records I think show he died in Bohemia in 1924 but show her on a ship in 1884 I think it was? Very difficult language. I’m going to try and learn the language so I can plan a visit to this region of my family. I would appreciate any and all help! I have pictures of the tree with names but can’t figure out how to attach and send to you.

I am glad you are having a great time with finding your ancestors. Keep in mind that without everything proven with a source that all you have is a good road map. I keep my data on a database that I own on my computer. I use Rootsmagic and it syncs with FamilySearch. It will let you download and upload to FamilySearch and Ancestry.

Good morning. Thank you. I was wondering if I should take each name and try to find a record to attach verifying they are in my family history. I will download the site you gave me because I find I’m constantly going back and forth between Family Search and Ancestry.com looking for something. My husband can read and speak German but found the flowing script very difficult to read and would try to pinpoint words he recognized and go from there. This is very difficult work. I have a lot of respect for the work you and others do to trace so many family names. I couldn’t have even started without your help. Have a good day. I was wondering. I thought maybe they were brothers but then last night on Ancestry it put him in a different spot confusing me. Now I need to compare Ancestry Family Search and My Heritage to see if they are the same or if there are discrepancies. Going to print them and take camping to do some comparisons. Good morning from Utah. The family tree on MyHeritage is by a Czech woman who most likely is a relative. I usually make contact because you never know what they might have. One tree that I contacted sent me a pedigree chart of my Kukula family with 300 individuals with dates and places. It was a great roadmap.
My suggestion is to have your own database on your computer and enter all the data into your database which only you can change. Anyone can change FamilyTree on FamilySearch. You can sync from some of the current database that you can buy such as Legacy and Rootsmagic. Legacy has more bells and whistles but Rootsmagic is user friendly and not very expensive. It is easy to transfer this into into FamilySearch and download it from FamilySearch thus saving hours of typing time. It also syncs with Ancestry and MyHeritage (I think). Every time you find a source, take a minute out and enter it. Sources can also be transferred to your database from FamilySearch and Ancestry. I almost guarantee you will like having your own database that syncs with websites.
Have a great time camping. I am going to the doctor to look at a rotator cuff problem. My track record for rotator cuff has been two surgeries already. So I might not be available when you get home unfortunately. Let's hope for the best. We do have other helpers on this site but I am the main admin.

Interesting fact is, that there were people travelling from Europe mainly to the USA, but they were coming back after a few years. My ancestors did that too. Once both, man and his wife, their son, who stayed there and a person from another line did that either. They all came back, except the one I mentioned. So it is not that unusual to come back to their birth country. After 1918, in the period of Czechoslovakia (První republika=the first republic), it was probably really interesting for these people, because there were freedom, peace and the country was economically on high level for 20 more years.

I downloaded Rootmagic but haven’t had time to learn it yet. I’m taking a tote full of stuff I’ve printed out from you and from Ancestry and My Heritage on our camping trip for the rainy days. I joined Ancestry. My husband can read German and has Actually been able to translate something’s. Your translation was wonderful and an incredible help on this journey. I’m so glad to have you on this journey with me. You’re patience and teaching is wonderful. I hope they can help your rotator cuff. My husband had an encapsulated one and they wanted to do surgery. Wow, this is great! Thank you so much. I must learn your language because it’s on my bucket list to come to this beautiful country of my family. Thank you for explaining some of the political and family issues during the time I’m researching. It might explain why my great great grandpa wasn’t on the boat and died in Praha. You're welcome, the probability we are related is really low, because the half of me is from nothern Moravia, which is not that far from the place Your ancestors lived. The next half is from eastern Slovakia and those people were in America, most probably USA or even Canada. So there is not a big chance.
