Seeking help with a divorce record from 1940 CZ
Dobry den. Hello. Is it possible to find a divorce record from 1940 CZ? The bride was jewish if that matters. I'm not sure of the groom's religion.
Groom: Herbert Zdenek Poppenscheller born ~1909
Bride: Magdalena Bergerova born 1909.
This is my grandparent's marriage certificate. My grandfather is William Long and my grandmother as we knew her was "Madeline". However, we have learned since her death that she stole the identity of Magdalena. Sadly, the true Magdalena was murdered at Treblinka Concentration Camp in Poland in 1942. I'm curious if there really was a divorce before the war between Magdalena and Robert. I think they married in 1936 possibly having met at Charles University.

Interesting story indeed. So the second paragraph of dispensations may be interesting, where one of the dispensations for both newlyweds was the presentation of a birth certificate (i.e., they did not have to present it).
Archival fonds of Regional Civil Court in Prague (Krajský soud civilní v Praze) is located in State Regional Archives in Prague (Státní oblastní archiv v Praze), see . Whether or not there will be a specific judgment cannot be said, it could have been shredded or it could have been lost.According to Wikidata item "Magdalena Poppenschellerova," Madgalena really died in Treblinka. I looked in the archives of the students of Charles University. There is no Magdalena Bergerová, but there is Lenka Bergerová (born on the same day and in the same place).

@Josef Klamo - Thank you. I'm going to put in a request for the divorce record from the city archives. Maybe I will get lucky. It would be interesting to see if they did divorce before the war and then wonder how my grandmother knew that information.
