Memories is freezing up
Every time I go to memories and attempt to use the filter to add titles and tag, my computer freezes up. This has been happening for about a week and it has happened on both my desktop and laptop PC. Is there an issue with this or do I need to change anything on my computer?

If you could provide some more information, it might make it easier for us to help.
- What operating systems and browsers are your computers using (e.g. Windows 11, Chrome 152.0.7977.83)?
- Are you going to Memories via the Memories » Gallery menu item on the main menu, or from the the Memories tab on profiles, or both?
- Can you list the steps you take and indicate where in the process your computers freeze?
- What freezes? Is it just the one browser tab, the whole browser, or the computer? How do you recover from the freezing (e.g. refreshing the tab, or closing down and restarting the browser)?

I am using Google Chrome and am still on windows 10. The issue happens when I go to the Gallery from the Memories button. The memories will not load. I have this same issue when I go to my contributions and click on Private people.

I'm sorry, but I can't replicate this problem. I messed around with the filter options in both the Gallery and from a Person's Page Memories. I also played around with adding information/Editing….but I can't get my computer to freeze. I used both Safari and Chrome browsers.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had any problems…

It has something to do with my account, I think. As the same thing happens when I use my laptop.

@AmberML1 Since you mention Safari, I assume you are using an Apple computer. I'm using Windows 11. Since the problem is occurring on a Windows 10 PC, that might be relevant.
@Rayleen H Barnes If you find that the "My Contributions » Private People" problem is reproducible, concentrating on that might be an easier way for the issue(s) to be resolved. It takes only three clicks to get to the Private People display. Maybe some other user out there who is using Windows 10 could help here.
Do you have an Android or Apple phone that you could use to see if the problems occur there in a browser? If you have such a phone and it has the Family Tree mobile app installed, you could also test both the Memories and Private People problems in the app.
Also, do you have access to an affiliate library or family history centre where you could use one of their computers to see if the problem is happening there? If it does, you might enlist the help of a librarian to use use their own FamilySearch account on the same computer to see if they have the same problems. It would help to note what operating system and browser they use.

It could be relevant that both the Memories Gallery and the Private People lists show lists of items that may be quite long or quite short (or anywhere inbetween), depending on the number of contributions the user has made. An extra long list in either area could strain the system for some users.
@Rayleen H Barnes , have you contributed a large number (perhaps in the thousands) of memories or private people?

@Alan E. Brown There is apparently a limit of 500 living people that a user can have.

@JulianBrown38 That limit means something different. It's how many living persons can have a relationship to one profile, not how many living profiles a user can create.

@Alan E. Brown My assumption was that the link between a living person's profile that I create (or one that gets assigned to me via a Dead to Living process) is via a type of relationship with my own personal profile. This would be something like a hidden Other Relationship. That thought comes from a habit, developed over decades of work as a software engineer, of having to second-guess how systems work when there is little concrete information available.
