GEDCOM import problem - still shows "processing" after 30 hours
I am a new FamilySearch user. Yesterday, I attempted to import a GEDCOM file. It is a small file, only 89 KB with about 24 people. The original GEDCOM had been created about 15 years ago.
After import, status shows "processing." It is still in that state today. I AM able to read the file using RootsMagic Essentials. I also have successfully uploaded it to Ancestry.com today.
Any ideas on why it isn't showing active in FamilySearch? Thanks!

I suspect the problem may be the age of the GEDCOM if you are trying to import the one created 15 years ago. There have been some changes in the format. I would suggest you create a new GEDCOM from your Roots Magic or Ancestry. Try loading that to Family Search. It is good it is only a small file. Have you checked to see if the people you are trying to import are already in Family Search? If the people are ready in Family Search, it is better to work with the ones already in Family Search to make them as correct as possible.

Thanks for the tip! I did, in fact, create a new GEDCOM from Ancestry and attempted uploading it yesterday. Today, it too is still showing "processing."

@Karl5436 I'd suggest as a first step you re-export the gedcom from RootsMagic and try that. Meanwhile, where in FamilySearch are you importing the gedcom - is this for one of the new User Trees, or not? (Not everyone yet has access to User Trees, as I understand it.)

@Karl5436 - I don't know anything about computers but is it possible your computer is "stuck" just as vinyl records played on a turntable get stuck in a groove? In the old days we used to try manually moving the needle — maybe what your computer needs is a soft boot? Sorry if I've wasted your time Best wishes
