Looking for paternal grandmothers first name
Hi, I am trying to find the first name of the biological mother of Steven Craig Edgar and Donna Lynn Edgar of California. All three are deceased. The mother's maiden name is Matthews. Can anyone with access to the full California Birth/Death indexes look up her first name for me?

According to the NUMIDENT (Social Security) for Steven Craig Edgar 1948-1991, his mother was "Thais M Matteer." Of course, we only have the transcription to go by, and his handwriting may not have been legible.
A 1950 census in California for Steven Edgar, age 2 with his parents, shows his mother as Thelma. No guarantee, of course, that is the same family.

Donna Lynn Edgar was born and died on 13 May 1946:

Note that the mother's maiden name here is: Matthews.
I did not find Donna Lynn Edgar in FamilySearch Family Tree.

Found separate families for Barbara (Matthews) on 1950 Census w/ Carol (dad) and Steven. Also found Thais M Metteer married to Mace on a separate 1950 census.
Edgar/Metteer marriage must be later, but she still raised Steven C Edgar for a good enough portion of life that he names her on SSNI files later in life.3
