The Family Search record cites a nonexistent record at Antenati.

This FamilySearch record says there is a corresponding record at Antenati for 1865 marriage banns, but I’ve been unable to locate not only the individual record, but any banns for 1865 in Messina. Other Italian researchers back me up on the complete absence of marriage banns for the city of Messina in 1865.

If there is an error, which it seems there is, how do I find the real record (is there other info?) and how do we correct the error in FamilySearch?

    @Tina Houle On my PC I used Google Chrome to look at the link you provided and it shows what information Family Search indexed, so we need to know what you believe the error to be in indexing/transcribing the document so that we can assist you further. Please provide the PID for your Lorenzo
    Lusitano.

    Best wishes on your research

    @Tina Houle

    I agree that there do not appear to be any Marriage Banns (Pubblicazioni) available on Antenati for Messina in 1865.

    When I look at the message when I hover on the relevant FamilySearch DGS 005053427 it indicates that the Film may be viewable at an AL or FSC which makes me wonder what records exist on that reel. I would love to know what is on Image 126 from that film.

    The indexed information in the link you provided is also curious, as it would be odd for a Certificate #3 to be for 5-May-1865.

    I'm sorry I can't be of much further help.

    @Tina Houle @SantaNinfa

    I'm planning to visit my AL later today. I'll check if DGS 5053427 is available and what it may offer.

    @Tina Houle @SantaNinfa
    I'm happy to confirm that DGS 5053427 is accessible when connected to FamilySearch at an Affiliate Library.

    The record is Ordine 62, on Images 664 through 666, or Pages 123-124, as numbered in the register.

    I wonder if this record (and possibly this collection or DGS) should be reported through the new Records Issue form since the access message is incorrect. I tested one other name on a nearby page, and that index also shows the "View on Antenati" message.

    @Tina Houle Based on the great information @Áine.ní.Donnghaile was able to read to me while she working with the marriage document she described, I was able to determine that the groom's full name was Placido Lorenzo Lusitano, age 28, son of Giuseppe and the deceased Felice Talamo and the bride's name is Gaetana Miceli, age 19, daughter of SteMario (Stellario) and Caterina Lo????. This is info as extracted from the Solenne Promessa dated 20 May 1865 (essentially a lot like pre-1866 Marriage Banns). The right side of that document indicates the Marriage took place 18 Jul 1865 in the Parish of San Nicolo.

    Based on that information, here is the birth record of the groom, #15, born in Sezione quarta, Messina on 15 Jan 1837 to Giuseppe Lusitano, age 35, and Felice Talamo, age 21 :

    https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12657/an_ua374443/LorzZOA

    I will have a look for the bride's birth record.

    EDIT UPDATE:

    Here's the brides birth record, #74: https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12657/an_ua374629/5vr1KXr

    Gaetana Miceli was born in Sezione quinta, Messina, on 22 Mar 1846 to Stellario Miceli, age 23, and Caterina Polimeni, age 17.

    Hope all of this helps you in your research.

    @Tina Houle While I've been at my library this afternoon, I decided to look for other documents pertaining to the family, in case they may be useful to your research.

    According to Community rules, I can't share copies, but I'm happy to extract highlights. Just let me know.

    And I've edited the index for the marriage so the correct names are listed.

    FYI for others who may be working on families in Messina and adjacent locations: Many of these records are now full-text search enabled. I was able to piece together many details of this family without making a manual browse through the records.

    Great, thanks everyone! In the end, I did have the promessa already, but I wondered who this unknown Lorenzo and Giustizia (now corrected to Giuseppe) were. Thanks for the birth records as well. I agree the message about the original image being located on Antenati should be changed, but I am unsure how to do that.

    PS I also tried to click like or awesome on everyone, but the actions weren’t retained. But I definitely appreciate the answers.

    @Tina Houle You're most welcome.

    I guess you know that the Promessa (with the reference to the marriage) is located on Antenati:

    https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12657/an_ua403517/wjdKD4v

    So, I suppose if the Promessa is being considered Marriage Banns, then technically it is indeed located on Antenati and the reference to that by FS in the index entry in your original post is not wrong.

    @SantaNinfa The record on Antenati is the same page(s), beginning at 125, but I'm surprised that we are being directed to Antenati instead of seeing the usual "available at FSC or AL" message.
