Family Search library lookup volunteers
Thank you to all the volunteers who help with these lookups — your work is truly appreciated.
I am researching my Małecki family from Tarnowica Polna and am hoping someone visiting the FamilySearch Library could help with a restricted item on Floor B1. I have the specific image number and confirmation from the library that it’s located there.

We want to be as helpful as possible in the FamilySearch Community, but when records are restricted, those restrictions exist because FamilySearch is legally bound by the terms of contracts with records custodians and/or other regulations. This means we are not able to use the Community forum as a channel for looking up, retrieving, or sharing information from restricted records on a patron's behalf — whether those records are held at the Salt Lake Library, accessed at a FamilySearch Center, or online. To do so, even with the best intentions, would put FamilySearch in violation of those agreements.
Here is what we can do in the Community forum:
- When possible, help correct errors in indexed records when the image is restricted.
- Guide you to the best place to access restricted collections, such as a FamilySearch Center or Affiliated Library
Thank you for understanding that honoring these agreements is what allows FamilySearch to continue building and maintaining partnerships that bring records to you in the first place.

@courtney5746 Is Salt Lake City the only location holding the record you need? We often find there are other repositories with a copy of a genealogically-useful record.

as far as I've been able to tell. No FamilySearch entity other than Salt Lake City has the image avaliable. I've been able to verify that. AGAD in Warsaw said their records are online but don't recognize FamilySearch image and group numbers so aren't able to verify if the image is restricted with them or not. Are there other places you suggest looking?

@courtney5746
Other repositories rarely have a cross-reference to FamilySearch DGS and image numbers.
Have you posted in the Poland Research group, where members experienced in the region may be able to point you to another option?
I do some Polish research, but there are others with far more experience.

Thank you, I will try that. I'm still getting acclimated to this platform and finding groups :) apparently the records lookup group is not visible to me for some reason I'm still trying to work out but will check out the Poland one!

@courtney5746
There is no "record lookup group."
FamilySearch offered a lookup service during the pandemic, but the service has been discontinued.3 -
ok, TY. AI must be giving me bad information then. appreciate you letting me know
