Recent incorrect additions to individuals on tree
Hi folks,
I noticed that a lot of details and sources have been added to some of my ancestors on the Family Tree during the month of April. They have been added by at least three members on three separate occasions, and this sudden activity has left me feeling a bit confused.
I am always grateful when other members add new info on my ancestors, but unfortunately many of these latest additions are quite obviously incorrect and relate to other people entirely — for instance, two Census entries for 1841 from different countries (Scotland and England) have been added to the entry of my 2x great-grandmother, and another Census entry for 1871 has been added to my 2x great-grandfather even though he had died eight years before. Many of the sources are also duplicates of ones already attached, so it seems as if the members entering these new details and sources aren't taking the time to review what is already there.
If it was just one person adding this new information, I would be inclined to think they were unfamiliar with the process, but as three different people on three separate occasions are responsible for these additions and changes, I am a bit concerned about the seeming lack of care being taken. Is it possible that some general researchers – perhaps with no connection to the families involved – are adding it?
Thanks.

@Stuart5243 Hi, as you know FamilySearch/Tree is an open edit tree meaning anyone can make changes. And as you know, each change is attributed to the person making the change. Have you tried making contact with those making these changes. If not, we would suggest you click on the name of the individuals making the changes and send them a message or email if provided. Sometimes you can even see your relationship to the person making the changes. We could look at it a little more if you provide us with the names and PIDs of your ancestors being affected by the changes. Thanks.

Will do. As I mentioned, the fact that so many changes were made by more than one member left me feeling confused, and I thought I'd check the best way to proceed. Thanks.

I've just finished working my way through two large Canadian-born families to help people apply for Canadian citizenship. I'm related to one, but not on her Canadian side. I have no connection to the other.Building the tree helped me find the records those users need for the applications. I always try to leave the tree better than I found it, by merging duplicates and attaching records.
