I am researching Elizabeth (maiden name unknown), wife of Andrew Oulch/Ulch (he was born 1810-1815), with no known death date for either.

They appear in the 1851 Census of Canada East, Canada West, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia with Andrew (42), Elizabeth (37), and children Sarah (13/15), Elizabeth (13), Benjamin (11), John (9), Mary (6), and Matthew (3). For the birthplace of Andrew, it does list Canada, and under him for wife Elizabeth, it lists ". All children are listed as born in Canada.

I have not been able to locate:

-Elizabeth's maiden name

-A marriage record

-Her death record/or Andrew's

-Her parents

The small amount of information I have all differs. I have the 1851 census. I also have a death record in the Ontario, Canada, Deaths and Deaths Overseas, 1869-1953, I believe for the child Benjamin, with it being Dec. 12, 1912—Birthdate of Aug 26, 1840. With father listed as Andrew Ulch from Pennsylvania, and mother as Elizabeth (Hewiett, Hewitt, Hewith)

I also have a death record in the Michigan, U.S., Death Records, 1867-1952 for the daughter, Sarah, after I believe she was married to a Kissner. Death date reads Oct. 8, 1912. Birthdate of possibly Oct. 8, 1835/1826. Father listed as Andrew Ulch and birthplace as Canada. Mother listed as Elisa or Eliza, last name Huet, birthplace listed as Canada.

I have searched both Canada and Michigan records, but cannot identify who Elizabeth (Eliza, Elisa) is or her maiden name (Hewett, Hewitt, Huet)

Any help identifying Elizabeth's parents or her maiden name would be greatly appreciated.

Hewett, Hewitt, and Huet are all variant spellings of the same name. We have to remember that many of our ancestors were not literate. The clerks or priests wrote the name as it sounded to them.

Checking the relevant record sets on Ancestry, I see several "Ulch" vital records, citing birth in Colchester South, in the 1840s.

I also noted a couple that could be related and helpful - Jacob Ulch and Sarah Huet. Looking sideways, known as collateral research, can sometimes help us find more information about our own ancestors.

In 1866, Andrew Ulch and Elizabeth Ulch made a transfer of property to Andrew Ford in Colchester, Essex County. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-C3HX-H9JW-H

The Ford name touches on the family again because daughter Mary was listed as Mary Ann Ulch Ford when she married Merritt Yorton in 1891. https://www.ancestry.com/search/collections/9093/records/3719759

In 1871, another property conveyance from Andrew and Elizabeth Ulch to Andrew Ford. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-C3HX-H9VV-J

This Findagrave memorial may be worth investigating: A. Ulch who died in 1873. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/225337273/a-ulch

And this 1870 census for Andrew and Elizabeth: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MHCH-PWZ?lang=en
