Where do I send feedback about a collection that is no longer accessible?

This data set is no longer accessible. https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/collection/2209866

This is the collection:

"Sri Lanka, Civil Registration, 1768-1990", Database. FamilySearch. https://familysearch.org : 9 October 2025.

I got here from the Sri Lanka wiki page. When I click the only presented option on the collection page, it sends me back to the wiki page for that collection. In other words, it's a circle.

I'm trying to help a patron access Sri Lanka information and can't get anywhere.

Thanks!

    @JanW2 See this previous topic

    All records are currently restricted.

    Advice from the moderator "…our current contract with the archive doesn't permit publication".

    Ok, not everyone can get to Salt Lake City. Is it possible to still have the person look up service?

    As discussed in the thread Maureen quoted, the microfilms themselves are at Granite Mountain and therefore completely unavailable even to physical visitors. See also https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/catalog/koha:660773 which confirms the Granite Mountain location. So @JanW2 I am afraid there is basically no way anyone can access these Sri Lanka records at all via FS unless the contractual situation changes. It might perhaps be worth checking what is possible via the record custodian in Sri Lanka - see https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Sri_Lanka_Archives_and_Libraries

    For information, we've been told that the personal lookup service that was provided at the main SLC Library during Covid has since been withdrawn. If materials are definitely available at the Library for public access (as is clearly not the case for the materials under discussion here), Cyndi's List has been recommended in the past as a way to source a suitable local researcher, probably charged-for.

    @AnnYates3 Sent you a message a couple minutes ago 😎 For everyone as @MandyShaw1 states If materials are definitely available online, you can post basic details about the deceased here and any of us volunteers and moderators are happy to help. If the materials needed are too personal to ask here, you can also use the Chat/Email envelope to ask a specific person(s). Happy hunting!

    @JanW2

    Your link

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/collection/2209866

    opens to this comment, which explains the issue.

    "FamilySearch provides images and indexes subject to contractual limitations and changes. Access to images and indexes may vary. Some collections may only have partial indexes without images. See Restrictions for Viewing Images for details."

    At this point, it is recommended you keep trying, and hopefully, situations will change, and records may become available.

    You can also go to other sites (like Ancestry or FindMyPast, which may have different rules). Another suggestion is to try to contact the Archive that holds the original records, which are posted in the catalog record.

    @JanW2 Please express to your patron our understanding of the situation that both civil registration and church records for Sri Lanka are currently not available on FamilySearch, other websites, or at the Salt Lake Library. The Office of General Counsel has advised that publishing these records is currently not allowed, but we sincerely hope this will change in the future.

    Good luck! I have a couple collections that are no loger accessible and were actually taken down by mistake. I put a request in and brought it to their attention over 2 weeks go on that and it's still not resolved.

    @StephenDespot Records Management is in the process of updating permissions on millions of records, so errors are expected and are being logged. Your issue is one of many that likely won't be addressed before the changes are complete.
