Why has the 1900 US Federal Census record been removed?
I am finding this message coming up repeatedly as I research relatives in the 1900 US Federal Census in Jefferson County, NY.
"This Record has been removed.
Unfortunately, the record that you requested is no longer available. If you arrived here from a bookmark, please delete your bookmark."
This does not make sense to me. Why has it been removed? Will it be added again any time soon?
Thank you.

The census has not been removed. Rather, there is a current problem with index editing. See this post for more information.

@JenGen465 It would be great if you could include a URL and/or more details. Are you trying to access from a record hint, from your attached sources, in search results, …..? This is an error we have been seeing lately, but we need to see the affected pages to determine if it is the same issue.

The message is coming up when I search specifically for the person in the 1900 US Census. It is not showing up as a record hint.
Here is the URL:
When I click view the record in the Historical Record Search Results, it does open in another tab; however, a message pops up that it is "Unable to show if this record is attached to a person in the tree". Here is that URL:
I am also seeing this error for other census years for other ancestors (e.g., 1920 US Census).

@JenGen465 This is the issue described in my post (linked by Áine). For every indexed person on this page, the permissions have not been set and have defaulted to "no access". The only "known" trigger for this is the editing process. When it affects the whole page, it's hard to know what person or family was being edited.
Sometimes the page appears to be unindexed, but in this case the names are still visible on the image page. When you see this message, it is as though the record is temporarily restricted:
@Bonobo52 Please send URL of the page you were on previous to getting the error message.
The post referenced by Áine is where I will give updates on this issue. Thanks for your patience.

We are still getting tickets asking about the issue of US census records "being removed." Are we certain this issue has been reported to the engineers? Any updates?

@karenrasmussen Yes, the lead engineer reports that the editing issues affecting censuses and other record sets will likely continue while some system-wide updates are in progress. The good news is that "most" of the removed records are restored automatically in about 36-48 hours:

I think at this point, the adding names to indexed sources issue has been resolved.
