Cannot submit a name even if related..

Hi Family Search is not showing a relationship between you and these people. Therefore, you are unable to request the ordinances. You can always check your relationship on the person page by clicking on view relationship. The long-standing policy is that we should only request ordinances for those we are related to. In December of 2024, that policy was made part of the checks for reserving ordinances. Prior to Dec 2024, you had to agree to the policy before requesting the ordinances but you could still reserve ordinances for anyone. The ordinances you reserved for Casimiro Vigilla, 2WHN-XKB were reserved prior to Dec 2024. If you think you are related to these people, then you need to make sure the correct relationship are in Family Search.

This new policy doesn't make any sense. I have people I have requested that I can seal to their parents, but their parents work hasn't been done…and it says I'm not related to their parents so I can't do their work. Not sure why this is even a policy….since you can walk into any temple without a family name and do the work for someone you are not related to.

@PlummerSandraJean1 First of all, there is no new policy. The current policy has been in place for many years. What changed is that provisions of the policy were incorporated into the reservation process of Family Search. Prior to this change, you had to acknowledge compliance to the policy prior to reserving ordinances. And please, don't mix the requirements for reserving ordinances with requirements to perform ordinances.

Hi, Thanks for the additional information. The policy is and has been for many years, that you can request ordinances for your direct ancestors, your aunts, uncles, and cousins including the spouses of your aunts, uncles and cousins. But you can't reserve for the extended family of a spouse to one of your aunts, uncles or cousins. For the people you asked about, they are the extended family of the spouse to your 2nd great granduncle. Therefore, they would be outside the policy of whom you can reserve ordinance for.
