directory indexing

Residences and houses have no bearing on whether or not a person is indexed, as they are the same thing. All you need to be concerned about is the name of the person, and, if applicable, the spouse's information. If it says Smith, John (Annie), Pres, Jones Market, h222 Main St., only John and Annie's information is indexed.
However, you will not index Business entries; ie Jones Market, 234 Main St. (Russell Jones, Owner., John Smith, Pres). Both Russell and John will have their residential listing elsewhere in the directory.0

When you have questions, its always best to give the batch code found in brackets to the right of the project name. It will look like this US—City Directories, 1820–1937 [Part O] [MQRP-FR7] [MQRP-FR7] is the one I'm indexing right now. The project instructions give examples of which names to index, if that helps 😎

Residents and houses have no bearing on what is indexed. If it says Smith, John (Betty), tchr Smith College, h123 Main Street, you will only pay attention to John and Betty Smith.

The Project Name is 162 Yonkers City Directory 1912 (New York). This directory has no residence or R
only H for house. Should I index the 'H' names? If not, I can't index this directory.
