Is there somewhere on the familysearch.org site where you can view service current issues displayed?

There was an outage early this morning with many Historical Record collections being blocked to users. It was fixed by mid-morning, Utah time. So sorry for the inconvenience. Generally, there will be an announcement in Community News for issues with large impact, but this one was resolved quickly.

Same issue again this morning

Yes, it occurred again this morning. Engineers are on it!

Was this just localized as far as an outage, or was it because of problems with connections to Europe? Unfortunately, some nation state-actors have been subvertly attacking data connections around the world.

This has been a problem for me for about a week now. When trying to view the sources section on some profiles I get the "Oops, something went wrong. Please refresh the page." message but refreshing is of no help. It also comes up sometimes when trying to view just one particular record. I was hoping after taking a break for a few days the problem would be gone but it is not.

@SerraNola is this a related problem?

The error message seems to be only happening when using my Pixel 7 cell phone. Deleting cookies and cache in Chrome on it made no difference. I was able to view a document that gives me the error on another device though. It seems it is only with some documents and profiles on my cell phone that I get the error message.

I am getting this error again this morning. Am I the only one having this issue?

yep, the bug is back again🤬

It's happening again this morning.
This time it seems to be intermittent: sometimes it works fine, on the same profile where it later throws an error. (Hence the screenshot, as "proof".)

Is anyone still having problems with records not displaying?

I still sometimes get the "Oops!" message with certain profiles or individual records. Last night I was able to get a record to show that had been giving me the error repeatedly. But it only showed once and then right afterwards when I tried viewing it again I got the error message again.

Does anyone have any idea when this is going to be fixed?

Still not working. I try to move forward from page one of my search to page two and it locks up with this SOMETHING WENT WRONG message

@katwasson To my knowledge, the problems from yesterday were fixed about 1:30, Utah time. If you are still getting errors, I need something to show engineers. Is it only happening when moving to page two of search results? Can you send a URL of your search?

@Miss Jessie Thank you for the screenshot. I will see what I can find out.

Hi there. I’m have also been getting the same error. I’m in Australia.
I use an older iPad, running iOS 15.8.3. Apparently the Safari browser reports as 15.6 according to ‘whatsmybrowser’. Unfortunately, my iPad air2 is no longer receiving updates.
I have always been able to use the iPad to undertake genealogical searches on Family Search, however very recently whenever I try to search I am receiving an error “Oops, something went wrong. Please refresh the page.”
I have undertaken all the various checks, deleted cookies, etc as suggested by FS web site, but am still unable to undertake a search via my iPad which will display results. Have even tried via the latest version of Google Chrome browser, but it also generates the same error.
Just in case, I factory Reset my iPad to remove any configuration errors etc. and reinstalled all updates applicable to my iPad. But with the same result.
I am able to search and see results via my iPhone running iOS 18.3, but this is less than ideal for the obvious reasons.
I don’t understand what has changed at Family Search to prohibit searching. Is there a setting I need to check or adjust which could help?
The only other thing I can think of is FS have made a recent system change and will only support the most recent version of OS Internet browser’s for searching.😕

There have been updates to the technology that had to be completed before the end of 2024. You stated:

@SerraNola can you confirm that this might be the issue?

That error can be pretty annoying! Try clearing your browser cache and cookies, switching to a different browser, or checking your internet connection. Sometimes it’s just a temporary glitch, so waiting a bit and trying again might do the trick. If it keeps happening, reaching out to FamilySearch support would be a good idea. Hope it gets fixed soon!

Unfortunately, if the root cause is an older browser that cannot be updated due to the age of the device, then none of the steps of the usual song-and-dance (up to and including contacting Support) are going to help.
The part that puzzles me, though, is that David says he tried "the latest version of Google Chrome browser". Was that really the latest version, or just the latest version that will run on the device?

Being a genealogist and not a technician I can only relay this response from engineering:
Yes, iOS 15.8 is a beta release of iOS for iPad. It is not in production and it would be the problem. Probably more to do with the Safari version, which was updated with that beta iOS.
Hope that helps!
