New Source Linker feedback

There must be some operating system/browser compatibility problems going on here that won't be able to be fixed unless people post sufficient details about their systems so that the programmers can figure out what the compatibility issues are and fix them if possible. In contrast to the very empty Detach Source From box shown above, I see the following.
Macbook Pro, Apple M2 Pro, Retina Display 14-inch (3024 × 1964), MacOS Sonoma 14.1.2, Safari 17.1.2.
Attach a source with all available tags chosen and a Reason to Attach Source entered:
(The unavailability of tags that have never been available in the source linker is a different issue and a new feature that I assume we will need to continue to wait for until all issues with the new source linker are fixed.)
The source attaches just fine. The source is tagged to the selected data blocks just fine. The reason it is attached is copied to the source just fine.
If I now go back to the source linker and click detach, in the pop up box the appears for me to confirm the action, all the information populates just fine rather than being completely blank as in the above example:
Apparently the newer technology FamilySearch is switching to when they have stated "The reason for the new Source Linker is that the previous Source Linker was built on very old technology. We had to make a change to continue offering this service" is not always playing well with systems that like that old technology.
Please help the developers make the new source linker as widely compatible as possible by telling them every time you report a problem not only what you are doing in as much detail as possible but also what set up you are trying to do it with. Just ignore comments from other users about fixing your system. Those don't matter. There is no hope the programmers can fix something to work on your OS and browser if they don't know what they are.

@mikedavis2, @LDS Search Test beta Source Linker still refused to post Reason text or Tags to the newly created Custom Event for a newly found source.
Also an edit of place name or date seems to trigger a save to an array but the values posted to the Person's Vitals or Events seem reversed with the correction placed in Standard but the viewed value with original source data.
FYI using Macbook Pro, MacOS Catalina 10.14.x, Safari 13.x, Firefox 109.x, Chrome 119.0.x.

@A Andrews, no, Source Linker doesn't tag Other Information. This is not a change, although I have no idea why they're even bothering with the new version, given this continued gap in its capabilities.
Not adding the "reason this source is attached" to a custom event (which isn't a source to be attached), on the other hand, makes perfect sense to me. If the old Linker did that, it's a Truly Weird quirk. (I don't use that particular reason box. Obviously, I'm attaching the source because I believe it applies to the person. I see absolutely no reason to actually write that out.)

I wonder if there is any chance of extending access to the new source linker to all FamilySearch users, before the old version disappears? I am yet to receive the opportunity of working with the new version (apart from if I switch to the beta version of Family Tree) and would really value the opportunity of being able to get used to working with it on a daily basis.
If you are thinking of withdrawing the "old" source linker in the near future, surely now is the time to make the new feature available to us all, in order that we have time to adapt and/or have make contributions here based on our experiences / any problems we encounter. Otherwise, we will probably be told we had plenty of opportunity of making comments while this was still in the development stage - whereas, in practice, we haven't!

Whoops! How long has that been there? I just noticed the TRY THE NEW SOURCE LINKER option at the top right of the page, so maybe I could have been trying it out (in the production version) for some time!
Sorry if the option has now been added to all accounts and I'd stupidly somehow missed the option to switch back and forth. I'd somehow got it in my head that the new version would now be the default, with the option (for now) to switch back to the old.
No, really no excuse, is/was there?

@ScottStieg @Áine Ní Donnghaile
Would you please revisit the Drag and Drop in New Souce Linker. It seems to have been greatly improved and I am not seeing any of the problems from December still appearing.
If you run across a challenge, can you paste the URL and comment on the browser and computer used?

Unfortunately @ScottSeegmiller my experience does not equal yours. I just tried moving a wife to the corresponding box THREE times. All 3 times she landed as the father of the principal.
On a 4th try, she finally landed on the right line, so I decided to try adding the children. Yeah, no. First child displaced her mother.
I switched to old linker, and everyone lined up as they should with no issues. https://www.familysearch.org/search/linker?ark=/ark:/61903/1:1:QV9Q-ZWKH&id=L24Q-VPB

@ScottStieg Thank you for your comment on using the New Source Linker, The detailed feed back allows the engineers to recreate the issue and work on making it better. T
The feature to automatically save the standardized dates and places is getting very close to roll out. Watch for it over the next couple of weeks. Until then, continue to edit the record at the Person Page. I have posted a list of the known issues.
Drag and Drop has gotten better, and requires patience lining up the unmatched person to a Child or a Sibling. It will also be improved. Thanks for helping with the great description.

Drag and Drop has gotten better, and requires patience lining up the unmatched person to a Child or a Sibling.
If it still requires so much patience to line up the family (and it does), then it hasn't gotten better.

@A Andrews Thank you for your January 12, 2024 post concerning the "Reason to Attach Source" not being saved when you change from one person to the next. This correction is being looked at by the engineers and will be resolved in a future release. We ask for patience, and continued feedback as the new Source Linker is improved.

@DougPrice8 Thank you for your comment on tagging and adding a spouse from the Source Linker page. At the current time, clicking on Change Spouse - None of the Above does not always allow you to add a new spouse. The engineers are working on it.

@SheamusPatt Thank you so much for taking the time to write up your comments on New Source Linker. We really appreciate all this great feed back. Let me give you a quick up date on the status of your issues:
- The question about the census documents not saving the corrections has been sent to the engineers.
- The engineers are working on saving the reason even if the focus person changes.
- The additional facts have been discussed with other departments and they are considering a change.
- The National Origin, Ethnicity, and Nationality have been simplified. You may not see them again.
- The Different Flags have been relaxed and are now working better.

@A Andrews Thank you for your post on Jan 26 about the Reason Text and Tags not saving for Custom events. There are been others noting that Standardized dates and locations are not saved as well. The engineers are aware of this issue and will let us know when we can continue testing it.
And thanks for including the platform information. It is so helpful.
