What is the current procedure for getting access to items that are in the FS Catalog

that are listed as "offf site storage"

example:

Assuming you are in a position to make a visit to the FHL, I would email / phone them to ask what notice is required in order they can get the item from its off-site storage location to the FHL.

I have experienced this situation here in London, whereby if the appropriate amount of days notice is given, both the Society of Genealogists and the British Library will order the stored item(s) requested to be available at their main buildings.

There was a long period of time (various years) when (at the FHL in SL) "off site storage" meant - you could not get access to it at all - not even with a pre-request - - period!

Thats why I'm asking what the current situation is right now.

That particular book seems to be in numerous libraries. It is near me in Virginia.

I have been through this situation. It is very frustrating when a book I am willing to pay for is out of print and unavailable, yet the copyright keeps it locked up and inaccessible in all locations where it could be read online. This book is in libraries, though. Good luck.

That was just an example - I am not actually interested in that particular book.

I just wanted some clarification on what the current in effect procedure is for getting books from offsite storage (if I am there at the FHL in person)

I am not connected with Family Search. Looking at the Library webpages, https://www.familysearch.org/en/family-history-library/ the Library link Collection/Books

https://www.familysearch.org/en/library/collection-books, has three further links, one of which is labelled "Order off-site books to the Library" If you click on that, there is a form titled

FamilySearch Library Off-Site Storage Book Order. "Before visiting the FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City, you can request a book that is listed in storage to ensure it will be available before you arrive. Requests may take 1-2 days to be processed. Requested items will be at the Guest Services window on the Main Floor of the FamilySearch Library".

If you are at the Library in person and want to order from there, you would probably need to return on another day when the book had arrived.
