Many of my sources in family tree were not saved to the Source Box. How do I copy them to the source box? The help topic for this question doesn't work. After step 6 for Save, the title is not changed to include Copy of, nor is there an option to click on Copy to source box.

Steps (website)

  1. Sign into FamilySearch.org.
  2. Navigate to the Person page of the individual with sources you wish to copy.
  3. Below the title of the source, click View Source.
  4. Click View.
  5. Click Edit.
  6. Make the needed changes and click Save.
  7. If you make changes, the system adds the words “Copy of” to the title.
  8. Click Copy to source box.

Ed, you're missing just one step: when you get to the step seen in your screenshot, click View.

Ed - sometimes images are slow to appear. Mine is showing for me now, and the information I indicated IS showing there.

The process is actually simpler now, with fewer steps.

Steps 1-4 are the same as before. the resulting page has "copy to source box" and "go to my source box" just below the title of the source.

Your image isn't opening. There is no feature for "copy to source box" and "go to my source box" just below the title of the source.

Copy to source box has not worked for me for over a week. Someone in Salt Lake should find the glitch in the program.

It's working for me - used it late yesterday. Have you tried using a different browser or clearing your cache in your preferred browser? Many FamilySearch issues - for me - are easily resolved with clearing cache.

@jplambert, as Áine says, it's probably not a glitch in the program, but a momentary glitch in your internet last week that your browser is now "helpfully" propagating via saved files (in the name of saving bandwidth and/or time). Get rid of the saved file (cache and/or cookies) to force your browser to fetch a fresh (and uncorrupted) version, and the function should be back to normal, like it is for the rest of us. (Well, until the next momentary glitch that gets saved. For some reason, FamilySearch is particularly prone to them.)

I use Firefox for most of my FamilySearch activity. The browser is set to clear the cache / cookies whenever I close it. Without wishing to "tempt providence" I am yet to experience practically all of the bugs / glitches reported on this forum - including this one. At one time I got annoyed by the "clear your cache" suggestion being applied to practically every matter, but I now believe this is the answer to at least 90% of such issues.

I also use Firefox ~90% of the time. I'm a heavy-duty user of the website. When the search format was first updated, I was seeing the problems very frequently. Now, the problems occur much less often - so some setting has been tweaked by the engineers. And clearing the cache and then refreshing the page fixes 99% of the problems I have seen in recent weeks.
