List of ID Numbers

Is there any way I can download and print a list of one part of my family's LDS#'s?

I am working on my husband's Maternal side and would like to print out just their LDS#'s.

Thanks for the help.

I do not know an easy way to do this.

A possibility is to follow all the people you want (with a separate label if you are already following others). Clicking on your Following list then gives you a list of names that includes the ID numbers. If this includes too much information and you, or someone you know, has skill with Excel, you can copy this into Excel and create the list you want.

I took Bonnie's question to be about ordinances not Family Tree profiles. I understand every LDS member has an LDS member number.

If Bonnie's question is about how to capture all the profile ID numbers (PIDs) of a given ancestry, the easiest way is to export a GEDCOM of that ancestry to a text file and then use a text editor search tool to extract just the PIDs. Or use the free basic version of RootsMagic.

Questions for you. For contributors with LDS accounts,

    • Are LDS numbers shown in tree views?
    • Can LDS numbers be exported to 3rd party software? RootsMagic 8 seems to support this but I don't have an LDS account so cannot test it to see if getting LDS numbers is a premium feature or part of the no-fee basic software.

I think that, when @Bonnie Blazek Kosmider mentioned LDS numbers, she was referring to the ID numbers used in Family Tree. Certainly that was my assumption in my answer. LDS membership numbers (which are totally different to ID numbers) do not feature in Family Tree. Which are you referring to?

Thank you both so much for your replies, I appreciate it very much. It's no big deal and I have written them down by hand and can use that. We are going to meeting a new relative and I don't know if she knows about FamilySearch and just wanted to be prepared to show and tell her about it.

Thank you and all your staff for being available to answer questions when we need it. I did look through the Help articles but didn't see anything in this subject.

Also, I would like to thank you and all the staff for all you do!!! FamilySearch is an amazing site and I trust it's accuracy and the commitment of everyone involved in it. I, for one, appreciate it SO SO much!

    Thanks again,

    Bonnie

    @dontiknowyou ( & @Bonnie Blazek Kosmider )

    FYI

    ------------------

    Bonnie

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]

    ------------------

    Just in passing ...

    Firstly ...

Further to; and, in support of, what 'Graham' has already been proffered ...

[ 'dontiknowyou'; as, you have also previously advised, that you are not a member of the Church ... ]

Please be, aware' and, advised, that ...

The "Membership" number, of the Church "Record", of a Member of the Church, is NOT made "Public".

And, such is certainly NOT available, to Users/Patrons, in/through the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch'.

The "Membership" number, of the Church "Record", of a Member of the Church, is ONLY available to, the Member of the Church (and, maybe, IMMEDIATE Family members, depending on circumstances); and, their Local Leaders, in the Church; and, the Administration of the Church.

Like 'Graham', my first thought, was that 'Bonnie', was referring to the 'FamilySearch Person Identifiers' (PIDs), in the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch'; and, rather than (and, not) the "Membership" number, of the Church "Record", of a Member of the Church.

As, the Leaders of the Church prefer, that we now, no longer, reference the terms, "Mormon"; or, "LDS", rather that we reference, the full title, of the name of Church; being, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints".

    Secondly ...

    In reference to:

the easiest way is to export a GEDCOM of that ancestry to a text file and then use a text editor search tool to extract just the PIDs

Please be, aware' and, advised, that ...

We can NO LONGER, directly, "Export", the records, of our "Ancestral" Lines, from the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch' itself, to a GEDCOM File, like we could, a number of Years ago.

The ability to "Download" (or, "Export") the records, of our "Ancestral" Lines, directly, from the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch' itself, was WITHDRAWN, a number of Years ago.

Like you later reference, the ONLY option, that is now available to us, is to use, one (or, MORE) of the many "Third Party" Applications/Programmes, that is "Certified" to work with the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch', found in the "Solutions Gallery", of 'FamilySearch'; being, principally a "Family Tree Management" Programme/Website,

    Solutions Gallery

    https://partners.familysearch.org/solutionsgallery/s/

    https://partners.familysearch.org/solutionsgallery/s/

    "Family Tree Management" Programmes/Websites

    https://partners.familysearch.org/solutionsgallery/s/list?category=family_tree_management

    https://partners.familysearch.org/solutionsgallery/s/list?category=family_tree_management

[ eg. As, you reference, "RootsMagic" (or, the like) ... ]

... to "Download", the records, of our "Ancestral" Lines, from the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch'.

I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat, to BOTH, you; and, 'Bonnie'.

    Brett
