Confirmation Middlesex, UK reviewing

Hello - I know I have done this before, but please could someone confirm that these entries are correct. I am about to review them and previously had thought the son's surname or the daughter's surname could be that of the father's. Likewise, the wife would have the same surname? Now I am not sure, once again.

Sorry

Thank you

    Hello,

Yes, these entries have been indexed correctly. The instructions say that if a surname has not been recorded for the individual to mark that field as "blank". The only exception is if a surname has been recorded for the child, but not for the parents, you should give the parents that surname as well. The example in the Project Instructions for a child's baptism gives no entry for a surname when one hasn't been listed inthe record. A mother would only get the surname if the entry said eg. "of John and Mary Smith", not if it says "of John Smith and Mary", or even "of John Smith and Mary his wife."

It does seem a little strange, but those are the instructions.

    Hilary.
