M3KN-WSR

In this image dated Feb 14, 1922 they record the squadron as having served in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. There are no other names on this record but P.C. Harris, the adjutant General.

Should I index this individual? It seems like an important record for him and his descendants to have, dispite it not being a roster or roll. If I dont index it will it be lost forever?

    Hi @Colin Yamamoto_1

I think you should index it.

The way I interpret the instructions, the document - a type of military record - is included (via the first bullet). And the person named is NOT excluded (via the second bullet}. The document is NOT a roll or roster and so he is not the preparer of such and so cannot be excluded from indexing.

So the document is in, and the person is eligible. Go for it.

    From What to Index:

    • Index all military records, including muster rolls, monthly rosters, losses lists, transfers lists, and all other types of military records.
    • Do not index the name of the person preparing the record of monthly rolls and monthly rosters unless the person is also listed on the roster or roll itself.

No record is lost. When a record is marked No No Extractable Data that batch will be reviewed to make sure it was marked correctly. At that point they will decide what would be the best way to preserve any information if it does not fit the parameters of that particular project.
