While working on British Parrish registers many of which are from the late 1800s I have seen the "fs" combination several times. Here is a example.
Does this index as "Crofs" or "Cross"? -Thanks, Roger Castle

Fun. The double s "fs" is indexed as an ss. In this case Cross.

It sounds like it's time for the "long s" examples - with some abbreviations thrown in for free.
