Hi @vsmith . jd means "joined" the military unit (not enlisted in/"joined" the Armed Forces). So since that is not an enlistment date, you would use the date at the top: Nov 30, 1939.
Per the citation by @LarryClark43 :
- The date at the top of a roster or roll may be used for all entries as the enlistment date if the entries don't contain their own individual enlistment dates.

On the Muster and Roster Rolls, if the date is listed as unknown to I type unknown or do I mark it as Control Blank?

The dates on this project are a bit complicated. The instructions for the project state:
- The date at the top of a roster or roll may be used for all entries as the enlistment date if the entries don't contain their own individual enlistment dates.
- When multiple dates are present on the image, please choose the military date based on the following hierarchy:
- Enlistment date
- Muster roll or monthly roster date
- Any other applicable military date
- If there is a transfer record and each name has a day, such as "24th," or month or year, and there is a complete date recorded at the top or bottom of the page, use the complete date for each person on the record.
So depending on the batch you have the answer will be different. If the date next to the name is in the enlistment date column, that is the date you would use. If the date is in the remarks section and is not an enlistment date you would use the roster date from the top of the page. If the top of the page you are looking at does not have a date you are allowed to look in the reference images to find the date for that particular roster or roll.
I think I have only seen a couple of cases out of hundreds where I could not locate the date.
Hope this helps

Thank you for the information I did some of the dates wrong because of the jd date and hoping the
person who checks the batches will catch them. Sorry I didn't ask sooner.

You're welcome, @vsmith . Yes, the Reviewer should catch those and fix them.
