I can not access the ruler
This happened once before about 2 years ago, and it took several attempts by someone who could knew what the issue was. This was done after several others at Family Search could not figure it out. This just happened again. We went through all the things like resetting cookies, reboot etc. enlarging image etc. I lost it while indexing, it still shows marked up in my settings, but it is gone. It disappeared off to the bottom of my screen.
Any helps someone knows that we don't?😉

@Kindred, Jalene So under Batch menu ->Settings -> Ruler you have a ruler color and transparency selected? What about under the Data Entry menu - is Show Ruler selected?
It might be a system/browser specific issue - what device, browser and operating system are you using?

I have not had this problem so these are just random suggestions.
- have you reduced your image size all the way down so it all is clearly visible? I lose my ruler some times but it is always just hiding at the bottom.
- Can you actually reduce the transparency or the width to the point that the ruler is invisible??

@LarryClark43 #2 A: I have fiddled with the transparency a little and even with it decreased the most available it is still visible - from what I have seen.

You did the housekeeping steps but were still unable to see a ruler. Did you try another browser? Sometimes that will help.

Hi Jalene. While you’re working on resolving/ waiting for your ruler problem to be resolved, if you are a Windows PC you have an alternative ruler/ reading guide that you might find attractive “A Ruler for Windows”. It is actually more flexible than the built-in ruler including that it can be made thinner and even vertical (e.g.for column mode indexing). Like the built-in ruler you can adjust the transparency and length. As you know, the resident ruler “sticks” to the image unless you move it, which can be handy to keep your place. The Ruler for Windows stays fixed relative to your screen unless you move it. I exploit that feature and move the image past the ruler. I’ve been using it for years. Below is a link to the developers site where you can download the Windows app for it.
Below is a screen shot of both rulers on the same image, along with a (yellow) panel that displays the various controls for the Ruler for Windows In this example the optional ruler has a yellow “skin” and is opaque, but you can adjust both attributes.

Turn the Ruler OFF and then turn it ON again.
Hi Jalene. When your Ruler gets “lost”, UN-check Show Ruler. And then check Show Ruler. Doing this OFF then ON cycle should put the Ruler near the top of your image (its “Home Position”) where you can find it easily. Then you can move it to where you really want it.
Apague la regla y luego enciéndala nuevamente.
Hola Jalene.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions. Unfortunately the elusive high lighter is no where to be found. I did download the ruler that John suggested. I am not crazy about it unless there is a way to make it transparent. When indexing long documents with many entries on the table form, it is so helpful to see what is coming up on your document. You can not see through the windows ruler.
