Hi. Through the GRO online website, I sent form with information to get a copy of 1846 JUN marriage record. See below what I sent to the GDS Support Services. Bottomline is how do I contact what they call the local Register office. GRO said they have record not them. Thank you!

Frankly, I am frustrated. How do I contact the Local Register Office to obtain a copy of the marriage record below. The record identified as City of London Vol 2 208B in 1846. Marriage of Abraham Jacobs and Mary Simmons. The GRO office does not have the document. Said I need to contact Local Register Office. Any help in getting an address, link or website to request it would be greatly appreciated. David Brener, USA email [email protected]

Thank you! David Brener, Ephrata, PA

    Welcome to the Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

Just in case, you do not have this ...

    H.M. Passport Office

'General Registry Office' ( GRO ) of 'England and Wales'

    https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp

GRO _ England and Wales _ HM Passort Office _ UK government.jpg

If you explore the website, there are ways to contact them.

Brett, Thank you for your answer. The GRO is the organization that told me that I needed to contact the local office. However they did not provide any information as to how to contact the local office which I assume is in London even after I sent them the message quoted in my question.

    David

    I did some digging ...

This is the best I could come up with.

    Worth a try ...

For the City of London ...

    Births, deaths, marriage and citizenship

The Register Office registers births, deaths, marriages, and civil partnerships for Islington and the City of London

    https://www.islington.gov.uk/birth-death-marriage-and-citizenship

    https://www.islington.gov.uk/birth-death-marriage-and-citizenship

Where I got to here ...

    Buy copies of certificates

    https://www.islington.gov.uk/birth-death-marriage-and-citizenship/buy-copies-of-certificates

    https://www.islington.gov.uk/birth-death-marriage-and-citizenship/buy-copies-of-certificates

And, eventually to here (for Marriages) ...

    Application for a marriage certificate

    https://www.islington.gov.uk/birth-death-marriage-and-citizenship/application-for-a-marriage-certificate?status=inprogress&ps=&ref=

    https://www.islington.gov.uk/birth-death-marriage-and-citizenship/application-for-a-marriage-certificate?status=inprogress&ps=&ref=

    Give it a go.

    Good Luck.

    I hope this works/helps.

    Brett
