Does anyone know if the FamilySearch Male/Female Icons can be used?
I would like to use male and female icons for my distant direct ancestors that I don't have pictures of in my genealogy program (Ancestral Quest). Then when I do a Line of Descent Chart you can see right away when it follows the maternal line or paternal line (no blank boxes) and then the current part of the chart has the actual pictures of the individuals. I have found some in MS Word-Clipart, but I like the ones FamilySearch uses instead. Can I use them? I don't want to infringe on copyright. Thanks.
Genealogically yours,
Alison

here are two images I found using my word program. They are very close to FamilySearch sihlouettes. These are not copyrighted. I have not received an response as far as copyright.

Just keep in mind - that records you are working with are part of a massive public collaborative database
when you do things like what you are asking - you are impacting the same records - that potentially thousands of others descend from as well.
SO - I would be VERY CAUTIOUS - - in doing something - that may only mean something specific to YOU
technically it can easily be done
But consider that it may very much annoy someone else who also descends from the same person - if what you are doing - only means something for YOU..
I also very much recommend - this video:

Hi Dennis, no worries I am not adding the icons to FamilySearch, just using them in my program on my computer to run nice looking reports. I just liked the icons that FamilySearch used.
