I am having a problem finding information on a family member born between 1875 and 1880.

Post the "Details" [ ie. Name; Place; and, circumstances; plus, PID, of the individual/person ] here.
Maybe be another User/Patron in the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, MAY be able to help/suggest/assist you; or, direct you to someone or somewhere, that can help/suggest/assist.
Hi, Lolah. This is a very tough time period to work with as folks were really moving around a lot and recordkeeping was very haphazard. We have all encountered problems finding any "official" information. In addition to providing more details here, you might want to schedule a free, 20-minute consultation with personnel from the Family History Library. Here is a link to the Wiki article that explains what you can expect and how to schedule an appointment.
@Lolah Diane James_3 Hi, Lolah, I noticed your question today, and wondered if you got the help you were looking for back on May 1? Please review this link to see if there are other ways you can access help with respect to your research. Where can I get help with my genealogy?
Many other organizations also offer help. Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness (RAOGK), for example, is a global volunteer organization where you can make requests for help with research tasks.
