The FamilySearch catalog is the place to begin. It has a lot of records from Lux. As far as the two places in Germany, they are online through FS. Now, these are mostly church, but some civil records.
Ferschweiler see this link:
and Bollendorf see this:
https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/247804?availability=Family History Library
For the towns in Lux, check the FS catalog.
Might I ask what your interest in guild records is? Why particularly those records and which guild are you looking for?. It is often very difficult to obtain them; they are/were owned by the guilds themselves and not by the government, which means they could still be held by the guild. If they were turned over to the government, they could be in any archive--city, district, or state. Difficult to determine. If FS does have guild records from a certain place or guild, it is because they were turned over to that particular archive and were available when FS filmed there. However, these records are much lower on the totem pole of importance than other record types, so don;t always get filmed. It's very much up in the air. In the long run, you will probably have to identify close-by archives and then figure out if they hold guild records.
Look forward to your reply.
Hope that helps.

Thank you for your response. I should have given the years I was looking for in Ferschweiler, 1789-1801, Bollendorf is 1804-1806. I cannot find the civil records for Ferschweiler and am told the church records were destroyed. I searched film 532125 before and got no records. Tonight I did it again with several different spellings and found 2 records I was looking for. Thanks again!

Hello Fritz,
I am interested in the guild records because I have not been able to locate what town my 4th great-grandfather was from and I saw where guild records usually contain that info. His marriage record says he was living in Dockendorf, his death record says he was born in Brecht. (Both were in Lux at the time.) However, he is not listed in the familienbuch for either town. That family had been carpenters and masons for generations so I was hoping for a lead in the guild records because I seem to have hit a dead end.

Hi LuAnn,
Please tell me: what exactly is the Familienbuch for Brecht that you have seen and where did you access it?
Also, where did you hear that the records for Ferschweiler were destroyed. If you look at the link that I provided and click on the middle set of records, i.e. Registres paroissiaux, 1637-1797
Author:Eglise catholique. Paroisse d'Echternach (Echternach), you will see this in the description:
Parish registers of baptisms, marriages, burials for Echternach, Luxembourg. Includes Bech, Osweiler, and Steinheim (all in Luxembourg; Ernzen, Ferschweiler, Irrel, Menningen, Minden (all in Rheinland, Preußen). Text in Latin.
It is possible that the records for Ferschweiler for your time period are here.
I look forward to hearing from you again.

Hi Fritz,
Thank you for your response.
There is a family list for the Wissmannsdorf family book online, which states it also contains Brecht. There are people listed with the surname I am looking for but they are not the right people.
I looked at the link you provided but records stop at 1797, I need 1798-1801. I just realized I had a typo in my previous message and said 1789 instead of 1798. Sorry about that.
Kevan Hanson, who wrote The Map Guide to German Parish Registers, told me about the church records being destroyed and suggested looking for the civil records. I have not been able to find them.

Hi LuAnn,
Ok, we might have something. Please forgive me if I tell you something that you have already done--or even told me: we've been jumping around a lot in this thread!
If he was born in Brecht, I think you should look in the appropriate parish, which is, according to Meyersgaz.org, Wissmannsdorf. https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/10229032
I would be curious to see the Wissmannsdorf family book that you refer to. Nevertheless, the baptismal records for Wissmannsdorf might be online. Check this out:
https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/302305?availability=Family History Library
It's the 2nd set of records. Have you looked through those?

Hi Fritz,
Here is pdf file of the family list from Wissmannsdorf:
http://www.wgff.de/trier/Familienbuecher/Wissmannsdorf.pdf
I knew that Wissmandorf was the proper parish, that's why I looked for their family book. I found ~25 people with the right surname just not the ones I needed.
I just searched the index in the 2nd set of records you mentioned and nothing came up, no matter how I spelled the surname. I don't have access to the files from home so I will have to go to the local Family History Center. I am confused, aren't the family books taken from the church records? If so, why do I get zero matches when
the family book has the people listed?
Thanks again. I appreciate your help.

There are a number of reasons that I person might not be listed in a family book. I am not suggesting any of these for this situation, however, just mentioning possibilities.
1- the person was just missed when the book was compiled. I have seen this.
2- the book really does not cover the right parish
3- the book does not cover the right years
4- the book is for Protestants when your people are Catholic, or vice versa.
Again, I am not saying that any of these is the reason that you cannot find your person.
But, the right surname comes up, so your guy certainly had relatives there.
Perhaps the birth place on the document you have is wrong and he was born nearby?
BTW, if the book was taken from the index and the index does not have him, then he will not appear in the book. I would look through the actual records--sometimes, people get missed when the index is created (I have seen that, too).
I hope these things are helping. I also hope we can find this guy for you. Let's keep trying to narrow it down.

Hi Fritz,
Yes, it is certainly possible his death record had the wrong
place of birth. I think I need to look at the actual church records.
So I've gotten leads on everything except Ferschweiler.
Thank you,
LuAnn

The civil registry office for Ferschweiler was at Irrel, but the FHL seems not to have any civil records from this town. I think in this case you are down to writing a letter to this place for the civil records.

Thanks, Fritz.
I noticed that the luxroots.com website has records and familienbuch from that area. Unfortunately, I can't figure
out their point system and they don't answer my email. Have you had experience with that website?

Hi LuAnn,
Although I know of the site, I do not have any experience with it. I suggest you contact the Luxembourg American Cultural Society and Center (the link is to the right) and ask them what they know about luxroots. I am sure they have some sort of mutual contact.
