Why are FamilySearch users / members of this forum allowed to have multiple usernames?
I believe there should be only one username permissible for each person who is registered to use FamilySearch, including this forum.
Immediately I became a regular participant in Community I became convinced that one particular person used one name for one "category" of his posts and another for other sets of issues. Okay, individuals can always hide their true identity when signing up, but this would surely constitute grounds for expulsion from the site.
I am naturally willing to hear justification of presenting oneself as an individual, when you are making inputs under different guises. But I would be most uncomfortable in believing I was communicating with two or three individuals, whereas I might be dealing with just one.

There are legitimate reasons for some users to have more than one account. A moderator, as a church member, may have a second "non-member" account for the purposes of replicating reported errors or situations where the two types of accounts perform differently. Naturally the two accounts are only used behind the scenes for investigating errors. Technical support staff may have similar requirements.
I can't foresee any reason for other users to require multiple accounts. If anyone has created multiple accounts in order to breach the user agreement, then by definition that is inappropriate.
If you have details of particular incidents which should be investigated, and don't wish to make them public, you can send a private message to a moderator for action. I would be happy to forward the details to the appropriate area for action.

Hi @Paul W
When someone creates an account with FamilySearch they explicitly agree to the terms and conditions for registering with and using the site. These include honesty in identity and use of the site.
"Registration Obligations"
"In consideration for the use of this site, you represent that (a) you have read and agree to the terms of this Agreement, and (b) that you are legally able to register (if required) to use this site and any other FamilySearch affiliated site. If you submit personal information to this site, you agree to provide true, accurate, current, and complete information about yourself (including during the registration process) and to maintain and keep current and accurate this information about yourself, should it ever change. If you provide false, inaccurate, inappropriate, or libelous information or images, we may suspend or terminate your account and use of this site. During the registration process, you will be asked to create a sign-in name and password to access certain portions of this or other FamilySearch affiliated sites. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your sign-in name and password. You are responsible for all activities that occur using this sign-in name and password. If someone else uses your sign-in name and password in such a way as to breach the terms of this Agreement, you remain responsible for his/her actions, and use of your sign-in name may be suspended or terminated."
If someone has manipulated the registration process and is acting outside the terms of use, you are able to report the incident for investigation.

Thank you for your response. To make the situation totally unambiguous, would you please confirm whether it is a breach of conditions for an individual to have more than one username?
It has been directly suggested on this platform that some members / users are using multiple usernames, so should any direct knowledge / suspicion of this be reported to FamilySearch? If so, to whom or by which means?
