I've been indexing Lancashire England Nonconformist Burial records from 1841. There is a column for "late occuption." For children, it seems that the parents' names are given as the child's occupation. Do I list these as the parents?

1841 Lancs Non conformist burial records - I'm also indexing the same batch. I don't know how to make sense of the age - what does the number before the / mean? Usually either number 8, 10 or 12, followed by / , then the age in months or years?

Sorry but I submitted the batch already. It was UK, England, Lancashire—Nonconformist Church Records, 1647–1996 [Part B]

I was waiting to see if someone would answer before jumping in. Looking at the batch that @RuthJackson40 shared, I think the numbers 8/10/12 before the ages are probably fees paid. I would ignore them and index the age that follows.

As for the column with the occupations being used for the names, on Ruth's batch it looks like it depends on the age and status how the column is used. For men who died with an occupation, it is listed - shoemaker, painter, customs officer, mason, labourer. For women who died, the listing is wife of "name". And for babes, it appears to be the names of their mother and father. I think you could be comfortable in using your best judgement and indexing these names in the proper fields, @Elizabeth Ann Engar . If was reviewing them, I would accept that column as the names of parents and spouses when it says Wife of.
