The attached will for James Heatherly includes seven children. However the son's name that appears almost directly below the name Benjamin is somewhat illegible . Can you make out the name? I think it is Adam or Aden but would like your expert opinion. Thank you. Ted Heatherly Email:

I believe what you are seeing is actually Sam. Reading on in the Will he mentions a son Samuel with a similar S.

    Hello@tedheatherly,

My guess is that Adam would be the name. It is frustrating when we cannot clearly read the names in an old document.

I have included some helps that you may or may not have already tried.

Can you identify the given name for the surname Heatherly at  https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/61372/images/TH-1942-28950-40127-40?usePUB=true&usePUBJs=true&pId=902149268. I also cannot determine the wording beneath the Heatherly surname at the bottom of the page.

As a follow-up to my previous question, were you able to identify the given name for Heatherly (the surety) on the marriage record? I am trying to determine Bessie Heatherly's father and mother. It looks like "Ring" Heatherly to me. A later census indicated her mother was Mary (Unknown) Heatherly b. 1868 in Kentucky. I have been studying this area of Kentucky for 30 plus years. My direct line of ancestors is from this area. I have never run into Bessie Heatherly or her parents. I have identified numerous documents for Bessie, her husband Ed Chenault, and children but have not found a record of her birth or her parents documents.

    Marian,

Thank you for your help. "King" is correct. I verified his given name by finding it in census data that had previously been transcribed incorrectly.

    Thanks again!!
