My great grandfather John MacDonald was born about 1827 in Diabaig, Ross and Cromarty, Scotland. He married Annabella Fraser at Shieldaig, Ross and Cromarty on 24 May 1866, by which time both his parents , Norman MacDonald and Ann MacKenzie were deceased. Norman may have been christened on 21 October 1802 , registered at Applecross as Normand MacDonald. I know that John was brought up in Diabaig by his grandparents, but would like to know why this was as I have not been able to find any definite record of birth , marriage , death, or Census entry for either Norman or Ann his parents. Entries for Diabaig may appear as Applecross, Gairloch , or Shieldaig. What happened to Norman and Ann that resulted in John being brought up by his grandparents?

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    As an aside ...

Can I humbly suggest, that you consider, REPOSTING, this post of yours, in one of the 'Groups', in the "Groups" Section; where, the members of the 'Group', may be able to help/assist you; and, of course, are only too will to do so.

Please be advised, that you will need to "Join" a 'Group' to post in a 'Group'.

The particular 'Group' that I would recommend would be:

    "Groups" Section

Home > Groups > Scotland Genealogy Research

    Scotland Genealogy Research

Description: Scottish genealogy and family history research.

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/group/170-scotland-genealogy-research

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/group/170-scotland-genealogy-research

    Good Luck.

I hope this may help, somewhat.
