Hi there
A couple of places you could start
- Sign in to FamilySearch
- Go to Search
- Choose Records
- Under the map choose Browse all published collections
- Type in the place you are looking for
- Browse the results to see if there may be records that might be of help.
Do the same search for the catalog and also FamilySearch wiki, located in the search feature.
We would also suggest, if you have not already, Join one of our research groups.
You can do this my signing into FamilySearch Communities, then click on research groups, located to the right. Narrow the search by adding in the language, region and locality.
Then once you have located your locality, Eg: Poland; at the top you will see quite a few links that will help you.
Then as you scroll down you will see the words new Discussion. To the right of this there is a small drop down menu. From this menu choose ask a question.
Our research team will then give you some ideas that will help you in your search.
Also Google is a great resource as well, How to begin

- Find out as much as you can from your relatives.
- Ask about place of origin and religious denomination or faith.
- Find the name of the town or village of origin.
