I've indexed or reviewed numerous pages of this particular series. On many pages, the business at the upper left hand corner appears, with three people who are executives. Are these indexed each time or only once? It seems redundant to re-index the same individulals each time.

Hello J. Britt. You do index their names on each batch that you index or review. Even though the names will be repeated on many batches, each batch is considered a separate entity.

In the Project Instructions, What to Remember about this Project, bullet point 4, we read: "Some names may be duplicated. When names are exact duplicates, index only the first instance of the name listed. Skip the other exact duplicates and then index the next unique name."

Any name on the image only needs to be indexed once no matter how many times it appears.

The question has to do with multiple batches of the same kind of record.

The Queen City Supply Company shows up in the upper left hand corner of many pages. Big advertisers.

There are three men listed as Pres, Treas and Secy of that organization. I have reviewed probably a dozen pages where those three appear in the same location on the left hand page but they do not appear again in the same batch. They appear in quite a few subsequent batches but only once in each batch.

Do we index/review them each time or only the first time they appear in this particular directory type? It appears to be from Cincinnati, Ohio and is a business phone listing.

You are most welcome, J. Britt. I am hopeful that there is a program they will run before publication that will eliminate these duplicated names that show up in the advertisements as well as the employers' surnames in many of the listings.
