I still need confirmation as to whether or not wid is a prefix. For the batch I am currently checking, the indexer has put in wid as a prefix on all of the widow entries. I have been changing the prefix to blank, but before I continue, I need to make sure I am correct in doing so.

Wid or Widow is not a prefix, so you are correct to mark them blank.  A google search provided: RIEG & MARTY, Architects and Superintendents, 2554 Vine Street, Telephone 5184. CINCINNATI, OHIO from an advertisement in 1896. That is the same address, so, I would index Rieg as a surname. Since the researcher will already be brought to the listing for Marty, I would ignore the M.

Also, could you look at entry #82 for Jos L Marty and tell me if (Rieg & M) should be indexed and if they are surnames or given names?

Entry 82 should be indexed as Surname Marty, given name Jos L. The Rieg & M indicates that Jos L Marty is a partner in a business and Rieg is his partner. Rieg would then be the surname for entry 82, no given name.
