Zoom meeting not able to complete
I was unable to participate in a Virtual Genealogy Consultation because the Zoom meeting ID was not valid.I tried to call the main number and was not able to get to anyone who could help.
- I do NOT have a camera on my Mac computer
- I downloaded the Zoom software and when I entered the meeting ID got the not valid response
- The main page https://www.familysearch.org/family-history-library/virtual-genealogy-consultation-faqs does not mention anything about requiring me to have a camera
- The research specialist Geoff Morris had my phone number and did not try to get intouch.
- I tried to send a return e-mail and had no response.

Hi Stephen,
We are sorry your Zoom connection did not work for the Virtual Genealogy Consultation. Zoom is a video connection. The situation sounds frustrating. We work here on Community , so we cannot help you, sorry.
All we can say is please try again. We are enclosing the number, in case it is helpful. See below:
1-801-240-6536
Or maybe try again to reply to the email.
Good luck.

- The page on which the reservation is made for the Virtual Consultation makes no mention about a Zoom requirement for a video connection being necessary.
- Having an alternative like a phone call in conjunction with team viewer would be an easy second choice.
- Having a phone number to call if an invalid connection is unsuccesful whether because of a technical issue OR lack of a camera would also be smart.
- Having the individual research specialist be aware of occasional potential technical difficulties and monitoring an e-mail reply to the invitation would be smart.
- The request for the consultation provides the requestee's phone number, a phone call would help.
