Missouri Naturalization project - certificate number on oath of allegiance
I am reviewing this batch for the Missouri Naturalization project https://www.familysearch.org/indexing/batch/72f5ef96-a35c-4786-b6d2-f71bb4255b91
The first image is an oath of allegiance. As on many of the oaths I have seen in this project, they used a stamp to add fields for the certificate of naturalization number and date and then wrote that information in by hand. Should this certificate number be indexed for the oath of allegiance or not? The example of an oath of allegiance in the project instructions does not have this stamp. The field help does say "Type the record or certificate number". However the oath is not actually part of the certificate of naturalization, so I'm not sure now to handle it.
Thanks for your help!

You are correct in using the certificate of naturalization number.

This is a big change in the instructions for naturalizations. We have never indexed a record number for the Oath in the past, since the certificate of naturalization is a totally different document. The Oath is usually on the reverse side of the Petition. However, I did notice on the example for the New York Nats that they are using the certificate of naturalization number. It seems very odd.

@Melissa S Himes - I agree that it is different than what I have done on other naturalization projects. I guess I will use the certificate number for the Oath unless they come out with instructions that say not to.
