Simplifying blank entries
I'm wondering if there's a way to blank out the "year" or "place" on all entries without having to do it manually one at a time. I'm doing batches of 1000 entries, and it's tedious to enter a blank, thousands of times instead of just being able to have a blank automatically get entered for all entries that need a blank (ie: I don't know the date or place for the entire 1000 people). Am I missing something? Is there a way to do that or is it impossible?

Yes, you can use the copy text forward to matching fields tool. You would put a blank in the directory place field, click back on that field, click on the 6th tool from the right. It will fill in all the entries to blank. In the column mode you can watch it happen!
I am guessing you are working on City Directories. I highly suggest not filling in the ones that you know will have blank fields until the end - it kind of helps to keep the program from getting really glitchy and slowing down.

When a particular field for all records in an image is the same, you can enter what you want (in this case <Blank>) for the first one, then copy it down to all records using this icon:

Thank you both SO much! This has helped tremendously, and makes indexing so much faster!
