How do I merge my ID with an existing ID?

My husband added me on his account and everything is correct. When I created my own account, there was no way to associate myself with the existing ID. Is there a way to merge two living persons if they are the same individual? It's possible to add my mother who is deceased, but not my father who is living without creating duplicates. I realize this is a potential pitfall since it means anyone can gain access if they know the ID. Perhaps there is an adjudication process? Thanks, Tami

    Hello, @TamaraElkins.

Living people added to Family Tree receive a unique ID number. Only the person who created the record can see that living person in their private space. The same individual in multiple private spaces of other users will all have unique IDs. None of these can be merged. This is how the system is designed to protect the privacy of living people.

Here's the knowledge article that explains adding living people to Family Tree:

Additionally, here is the knowledge article that explains how FamilySearch protects the privacy of living individuals:

We hope this information will help you as you work in Family Tree. Best wishes!
