Census record
In a census record, if a family member is identified by sex, and is listed under parents in the position as a child, can we assume a male child is a son, or a female child is a daughter where the relationship is not otherwise indicated?

@LundbergStevenBruce2 Is this an indexing question? If it is for your research we can move it to a Community that can help you more although MNuttall has given some great suggestions!

Hello @LundbergStevenBruce2.
If you are referring to early censuses that don't indicate relationships, you might possibly assume the children listed are sons and daughters, but you would want to corroborate that assumption by finding the family in subsequent censuses and other vital records.
