How/where do I send a recommendation to FamilySearch programmers?

Clearly many people (including me) don't understand what the "Read Only" lock message that suddenly appeared this afternoon means. I'd like to suggest to the programmers that there might be more understandable message - for example: "Currently users can't update records. When the problem has been corrected we will post a message here".

Is there a Help Center Category for suggested improvements to the web site?

    Hi Ron,

I understand your frustration when cryptic messages appear.

If you look to the left of this page, in the left hand column you will see 'Ideas' under the lightbulb icon. Click on it and you will then see a page that has several different groups where you can present your ideas for improving FS site and generally helping us make it more user friendly.

    Many thanks

    Cedar

Please clear temporary cookies at familysearch.org/cookies. This should resolve the temporary issue.

And the read only lock was a system wide glitch that lasted only a couple of hours on July 22. Clearing cookies helped many to get rid of that.

I just tried to send a notice to LDS about correcting a surname for Lulu Belle Fronk (LZ13-FYL). After clicking on the EDIT button and typing in the forenames and surname. I was repeatedly told to highlight the name.

I am a literal person. But in the half-dozen efforts, I could not sent the report to you.

I Recommend that the directions be reworded to show that a researcher who is trying to correct a misspelled name be advised to HIGHLIGHT the name on THE Digital IMAGE.

    Good LUCK
