Some ancestors have been added to my family tree, but how can I be sure the information is accurate?

Welcome to the "FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
Short Answer: Research; and, Checking ... simple as that ...
ie. Doing one's 'Due Diligence' ...
As an aside ...
Here an old 'standby' of mine, that I have previously proffered on occasion ...
Most new (and, some old) Users/Patrons DO NOT understand the basic 'nature' and 'premise' of "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch', when they join in.
Please let me explain ...
We do not have our OWN "Tree" in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
We ONLY have "Branches" (ie. Ancestral" lines), that are interconnected, in this SINGLE "One" World "Tree", for all of us, that is "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
"Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' is NOT like 'On-Line' "Websites" (eg. "Ancestry_com"; or "MyHeritage_com"; or, the like); and/or, 'standalone' personal (computer) programmes (eg, the OLD, now no longer supported, "PAF"; or, "Ancestral Quest"; or, the like).
We DO NOT have "Private"/"Personal" 'Trees' in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' like other 'On-Line' "Websites"; and/or, 'standalone' personal (computer) programmes.
We do not even, own; or, manage; and, are NOT even responsible for, the "Deceased" individuals/persons in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
And, most importantly ...
We DO NOT even, own; or, manage; and, are NOT even responsible for, Our OWN "Deceased" Ancestors/Family/Relatives in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
"Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' is built on a "Open Edit" Platform - hence, why any registered User/Patron can "Edit" (ie. Add, Delete; and/or, Change) ANY "Deceased" individual/person in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
I know that this does not help; but, I hope that this gives you some perspective.

Hi Lynne
As Brett has said we don't own the tree but oh boy does it have it's treasures. These you can add to any private trees you have
To find out if those ancestors can be added to your private tree there is as Brett has mentioned only one way and that is to check and double check the sources, and exercise 'Due Diligence.' There are dozens of sites out there to use and of course the groups here that will support you and of course FamilySearch itself with a Community of people.
One big resource are census records, our 1921British census is set to be released on January 2022 by 'Find My Past.' I can't wait for that one as I'm sure it will fill in any number of gaps in my tree.
Ancestry and Find My past are great for other resources and then there are FreeBMD and. if you are British, the General Records Office. Also don't forget the British 1939 list, parish records, newspapers, apprentice records, land records, wills and probate records, A BillionGraves and Find A Grave. A BillionGraves is the way I was able to find a family member I had been looking for for over thirty years and because of what was written on the grave stone unknown members of our family. It sounds daunting I know but it's not really just take one at a time and see what you find. It's fun finding you are related to someone you have known for years.
This is the link to FreeeBMD.
Others are easier for you to find. When you are maybe a little fed up try this and have some fun, go the any FamilySearch page (except trees) and scroll to the bottom of the page. Click on Solutions Gallery and then scroll to the bottom and click on the 'more' button for FamilySearch Solutions Gallery, about two thirds of the way down look for Relative Finder and have see who your are related to.
Best wishes and here's hoping you find more of your ancestors and relatives.
