July 18, 2021 in Indexing

Please look at batch M9C3-CR6 record # 177 . It has two dates the top one is 1921 22 Dec. Below it the is another date 22 Maggio 1921. Which is the

date to be indexed. This type of record is on many many of the marriage records. I was told once, I think by error ,that it is the bottom or second date

that is to be recorded. Please answer promptly. John

John - I'd like to help but I can't open your batch. Did you already submit or return it?

    This is what I see:

    Italian Records

We appreciate your interest in wanting to index Italian records. However, we ask you to consider choosing a project other than Italian if you are not familiar with the language.

    AND THEN:

    Access Restricted

You are not authorized to open this batch. Please find another batch to work on.

In Italian records, usually the first date is the reporting date and the second is the event date, but without seeing your batch, I can't give you a good answer.

If you can't read this record, I suggest you return it for another indexer.

I did see it yesterday morning (July 18) and later in the day could not view the image. I suspected it was submitted. John, once a batch is submitted, it cannot be viewed. But, in the future, you can keep the batch and continue working on another batch at the same time. We can keep up to 10 batches in our queue under My Batches. They just stay there until you submit them, or they expire and are pulled back (usually in a week from the time you downloaded the batch).

Anyway, I was waiting to see if an experienced indexer of Italian records might be online during the day. The image seemed to be the same form as the example, except after the sentence Avanti dei mi there was a name and another date. I thought might be the registrar's name and the date of registration and would have used the date on the example (the first date).

John, if there was another date further down on the document, please let us know. I only could see those two dates, but, I don't speak or read Italian.

I am very experienced with Italian records but was busy yesterday with church and family and not online much.
