Whenever I type in a DGS number in the search function on Family Search it gives me the message that the number does not exit. Other people type in the same number and the batch of images comes up. I really need this function to work. How can I get help?

We need to know the DGS number to replicate the problem on our side.

Perhaps you need to reset your Familysearch cookies: https://www.familysearch.org/cookies

-Change your browser to another FamilySearch compatible: Google chrome, Mozilla F. mirosoft edge, safary.

-What device are you using Windows or Apple- Ipad tablet, computer or any androide.

-let us know if the problem persist.

107916491 This number gives me the result of No Results Found using the Explore Historical Images.

I cleared my Family Search cookies prior to initiating the search.

    I have a PC laptop.

    Same result with Firefox.

    @PaulDyer

    Paul

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

Question: WHERE are you searching in 'Family Search'?

ie. WHAT, 'Search' "Function", in Family Search, are you using?

    FYI

I simply went to, the "Catalogue" in 'FamilySearch"; and, selected the, 'Search for:' the "Film/Fiche Number"; then, entered that Number in your post.

    Like this ...

    https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog

    FHL Film number 107916491 _ DGS _ 0 _ 17 July 2021.jpg

    Resulting in this ...

    https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/results?count=20&query=%2Bfilm_number%3A107916491

    FHL Film number 107916491 _ DGS _ 1 _ 17 July 2021.jpg

And, when I selected that "Wisconsin, death records, 2005-2012", it resulted in this ...

    https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/4157865?availability=Family%20History%20Library

    FHL Film number 107916491 _ DGS _ 2 _ 17 July 2021.jpg

    I hope this helps.

    As an aside ...

    Just to be clear ...

A "DGS" Number, is NOT, a "FHL Film" Number ...

Here is a "Knowledge Article" in 'FamilySearch":

    What is a DGS number?

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/what-is-a-dgs-number

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/what-is-a-dgs-number

And, here is an "Article" in the 'FamilySearch' "Wiki"

Book and Film Numbers Used by the Family History Library

    https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Book_and_Film_Numbers_Used_by_the_Family_History_Library

    @PaulDyer

I eventually found the film number recorded on page 21 of 23!

You won't have got any results, using "Search", if the film has not been indexed. Although there is a statement at https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/4157865?availability=Family%20History%20Library saying "This is a preliminary description provided to allow immediate online access. Images have not been reviewed." there is no link to any images, which appear to be unavailable.

In summary, you appear to be unfortunate in that neither indexed records nor images are available on FamilySearch. Maybe this is because this group of records is so recent (2005-2012, according to the heading). Indexed death records only appear to be available for Wisconsin up to the 1959-1997 period - see https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/location/59?region=Wisconsin (Click on "Show all 108")

I guess this is what you are seeing:

    No results.png

This is the extract from page 21 of 23 in the Catalog details for the (whole) collection:

@PaulDyer Just want to add a comment. Some records are restricted so they may not be accessible even with a DGS number. Do not know if this is the case here because no Shared batch code was given. If you want us to follow up on this would you mind sharing that code so we can take a look?

Thank you Brett. I can duplicate what you showed, however, you cannot see the individual images in the batch.

@Серый Here is how to find those FamilySearch DGS numbers:

    1. Sign in to FamilySearch.org
    2. Click Search and then Images.
    3. 2 versions of image search exist. On the older version, click Show More Search Options below the Place search box. Then click Show Advanced Search. Then find the Image Group Number (DGS) search box and enter one of the DGS numbers. I tested it with 109289631. Click Search Image Groups. With the new version, you save a click. Click More Options and find the Image Group Number (DGS) field.
    4. Click the Image Group number in the search results and the images come up.

If you'd like to learn more about Search Images, here is a Help Center article that can help you get started:

    N Tychonievich,

    It works! Thanks!

I found other way to display those films. Just insert DGS number in the address bar.. For example, put 109289631 instead of 005684120.. Works as well))

    Hello!

One Ukrainian archive provided many DGS numbers, some of them impossible to find. For example 108358497.

    BR, Claus
