Lost information of Ancestor in U.S.
Please help me find any information of my great-grandfather´s sister who moved to U.S. in 1911 from Finland. I am stuck in this 1940 Census and can not find any later information, not even death time or location of her stay or grave. Her name is Gustava Puuska and her husband is Nestor Fabian Puuska. They lived in Worcester Massachusets and also in Barre MS.
She was born in 1879 in Finland and had one daughter (Helen M Puuska). Here attached please find a screenshot of 1940 Census record.
Please help me find Gustava ( Finnish name is Kustaava) and her information. Any info is most welcome.
Kind regards

@TimoRaiha, , We find Gustawa Buuska (incorrectly indexed as Banaka) with her husband Nestor in the 1920 census (to view, click HERE). She is found at Line 43. The only reason she was found, was that her married daughter (Helen Loomer) and grandson was also in the household.
We also found the passenger list that included Gustaava Puuska and her daughter Helmi (Helen). They were traveling alone to meet her husband, Nestro Puuska, in Gardner, Massachusetts. Note that Gustaava's mother is identified here. (to view, click HERE). They are found on lines 1 and 2. Move to the next page (image 767) to find additional information and Nestor's name.
Unfortunately, we can not find any death records for Gustava Puuska, or her husband Nestor.

Hello @TimoRaiha.
It doesn't appear that you have added your ancestors to Family Tree. If you add their names to your part of the tree you will likely get some record hints which you can attach to document the family.
Here is a link to the World War I Draft Registration for Nestor: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KZNH-VRB
Of course, that's no guarantee you will find out what happened to the Puuska family after 1940.
Here is a link to an article that might help you in your search:
Good luck!

Another clue about what may have happened to Gustava Puuska is that she is not named as the nearest relative on Nestor's World Ward II Draft Registration Card - 1942. Could she have died?

Thank you all for your kind help in this case.
I have tried to find info about Gustava and Nestor and already seen those documents you mentioned. Indeed, Nestor did not name Gusta(a)va as his nearest relative anymore in 1942 WW2 draft card. I also think Gustava already died between years 1940 and 1942, after been married together with Nestor for almost forty years ( they got married in Finland in 1904).
Seems like my only hope is to start looking thru newspapers if there is something about Gustava Puuska ( Puuska, Banaka ) or even death Certificate of Nestor Puuska who died in Barre in 1951 (I think).
I have just started building my tree and trying to hurry in finding the only lost family member Kustaava Jussila ( later Puuska ) because my mother ( her mother maiden name is Jussila) is 94 years soon and I would be happy to let her know that I have found her grandfather´s sister about whom my mother has never known nothing. In fact she never got to know her grandfather either, but of course heard about granddad going to America already before her mom was born. I hope a happy ending for this sad story.
Thanks to you all you kind people who help me in this. Hope to find something soon : )
Best regards
Timo

Hello again.
Seems like I lost also Gustava Puuska´s daughter. Her name is Helen M. Puuska and after divorced from Mr. Loomer I am not sure if she changed her name again or what? I find one Helen M Puska from Vermont but she is not the correct lady because she is born 1905.
Helen M Loomer together with Gustava Puuska I miss. Helen is born 20 July 1900 in Finland and Gustava Puuska ( maiden name Jussila ) born 1879.
Can somebody go to archives to see if those ladies changed their names or what? I think at least they got naturalized at some point.
If somebody can hep me please?
Kind regards

Still looking desperately for finding my lost relatives. Not finding their infos at all after 1940 Census. Please help me locate Mrs Gustava (Kustaava) Puuska ( maiden name Jussila ) born 1879 and her daughter Mrs Helen M Puuska ( original name Jussila ) born 1900 both in Finland. Gustava was married with Nestor Fabian Puuska but in Nestor´s WW2 register card there is not anymore mentioned Gustava as Nestor´s nearest relative. What happened to Gustava after 1940?
Also Mrs Helen M Puuska, married with Mr. Loomer and they had two children. Not able to find Helen´s info at all,
They lived in Barre, Worcester, Massachusets according to 1940 Census. At least Helen moved to another place at some point.
I thing in the Archives there should be if they changed their name or died? Can somebody help me please ?
Kind regards
