Thank you. The name is Colby Lane. His six numbers are LKP3-F1H. He was born in Kentucky at about 1812. He was married to Celia McCollum in July 1842. They had at least 3 sons and 4 daughters. In later times they lived in Clark Township Chariton Missouri for about 10 years. The page I am looking for listed relationships back to the 1500's. I may have picked that up under the United Kingdom. Thank you so very much. It is appreciated. Gary Mullarkey

    Gary,

Thank you for providing the basic information. When we found Colby Lane on FamilySearch he is listed with three sources that are not helpful in taking him back in time or in identifying his parents or exact date and place of birth.

He is. not listed as having any duplicates, but at one time you may have accessed another version of him on FamilySearch that was connected to the many generations you mention.

The information you accessed must have been based on family or church records. According to the "Kentucky Genealogy" page in the FamilySearch Research Wiki, the earliest civil birth records didn't start until 1852. There are indexes that go back as far as 1839.

We would suggest you talk to family members to see if any of them have any further details or sources that relate to the family. This must be very frustrating for you. Good luck in your searching.

    Hi again Gary

After doing a little research on Colby/Coleby Lane born about 1812.

We checked Ancestry and Geneanet and also found this link in Roots web here: http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~mbonsal/genealogy/lane/zcolby.html

This record from Roots web tells a bit of history about him, don't know if you already have this information.

But no records found of either a marriage record or of a death record.

In Ancestry there a few families that have Colby connected to this family, but with no records to prove it.

See this record from FamilySearch. Mordecai Lane 1787 – 30 November 1873 ID: KN7F-728 and Cecelia Atkinson as his mother see wife of Mordecai

We checked this family out as well but there is no proof that he is a son and if so he would not fit in with the children of this family,

As in all research we need to back everything with documentation if possible and as @jcbabcock mentioned talk to family members to see if they know anything, that might give you more clues.

You could also communicate with other people researching this line and see what you come up with. Or maybe check into DNA testing.

    All the very best
